A view on Christchurch at NewZealand-Sth Island

Recommended Posts

Take-off in Airbus A320 from NZCH for a quick roundtrip over the area of Christchurch at mid-eastcoast of New Zealand's South Island.

The photoreal- and the airport-scenery blends very well with the ORBX-scenery of the intire Sth Island. Enjoy the views:

Really nice shots I have get th NZ add on,s just cant decide Nth or Sth island ..

No problem. Get BOTH!

They're both faithful representations of the Kiwi landscape - with plenty of atmosphere. I suppose from a purely topographical point of view, NZSI has all the great mountain ranges and lakes.

The only problem with NZSI is that you'll want NZMF (Milford Sound) ... which is an ORBX classic!

I have both and it's difficult  to say which I like better.   If you can, maybe get both...     Whatever you get, suggest trying some flight during Winter at Dusk....  beautiful..   good luck.                  Howard

Dare I be less than 100% enraptured by an ORBX product on an ORBX forum?

I don't think NZQN is in the same ballpark as NZMF. I have too many issues with it: flashing runway, floating houses, scenery not blending in all seasons etc. They've all been flagged, I think, but still waiting for fixes.

Sorry, mate, it will happen just with you - an ardent lover of your native land! :banghead:

For me, since that I purchase it, I have been very happy to fly there! Like I said, NZMF-NZQN or vice versa is a charm. ^_^

I hope you will find a fix!

Cheers,

Kiwi Stu asked a question above that is not answered, so I will also ask too. Who's photoreal scenery is it?

Hi there ikbenik

Where did you get the christchurch addon sceneries from ?

Cheers stu

Hello 'Kiwi Stu' and 'jaydor',

I have downloaded this scenery from 'avsim' in July 2012 but till now not installed as extra to my ORBX-NZSI scenery. I have little detail but found the following:

created by Ian Warren for the (late?)Ian "thatch" Thatcher from 'Creator2003' and found an email address: titdesign@hotmail.com. I can't give more detail than that.

Maybe try a query on the avsim.net website?

Cheers to all requesters for this magnificent made scenery.

Questions, remarks and request for further info about ORBX-FTX related products is best to address in the forum "Full Terrain Experience (FTX) Payware Support Forum". The specialist(s) and/or members with the knowledge about will surely help you further.

Good on yer, Val ... I hope you enjoy NZ as much as I do!

There ought to be some docs about the lights thing, but it'd dead simple really. ORBX discovered that the code to display all the city lights gets triggered even during the day - so if you know that all your flights in that FSX session will be in daytime, set the lights to off and you'll save some fps.

Also - make sure you've installed the latest ORBX Libs!

These are great shots when it comes to photo-scenery.

However, you get the same tired old problem that plagues ALL PS packages, there's no custom autogen placement like OrbX creates. Now, I'm in no way trying to blow smoke up the butt's of OrbX, but the method they use of hand placing autogen over the top of high definition photo tiles is what makes it the best stuff on the market. In all of OrbX's custom regions and airports you will find areas where single tree's, buildings, trucks and cars and sometimes boats have been hand placed one by one over each object in the photo tile. I imagine this take quite some time and patients but the result is awesome, especially now that those same hand placed objects can draw real time shadows in P3D v2.2 :)

Easter weekend here in NZ we just had "Warbirds over Wanaka" (it's biennial). You don't need the Milford add-on for this ...ORBX NZSI has a perfectly presentable little airfield (NZWF) framed by those stunning mountains.

http://www.warbirdsoverwanaka.com/home.html

It doesn't take much to get the feel of it if you jump into any FSX "classic" warplane and whizz around that area. You'd soon get to see why it's become such a popular air show world-wide. The backdrop is awesome.

So ... fire up your shiny new A2A Spitfire and fly at 50ft above Lake Wanaka!

Ok just done a fly around Milford in the Spity amazing wow... is there anything in my config that would help with the popping.. ive set it all up as per user guide and that fixed a lot but im still getting popping even if I have my auto gen on sparse or normal so im guessing its a texture load thing..
