New PC

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I am now starting to plan my PC upgrade..

As Orbx can now go on another drive outside of the simulator I am after advice/suggestions

Should I get a M.2 PCIE express drive of 500gb and put the operating system and Prepar3d v5 on plus a 2tb SSD for all my Orbx stuff plus others.

Or a 250gb M.2 PCI ssd for the operating system plus another 2gb one for my flight sim

Thank you

Dave

Hello,

without a doubt, the M2 is much faster but whether to use them is really a matter of choice..

My own motherboard can only accommodate two M2s.

With two, three SATA ports are disabled, usually out of six.

Not all motherboards are the same and not all users require as many SATA ports.

I need 9 and the M2, so that may be a special case. I use an additional four port SATA card to achieve this.

I use a 240 GB  standard SSD for the operating system and one 1 TB M2 for the simulators.

The operating system loads very quickly in any case.

The simulators load much more quickly on the M2.
