Up the North Island

Recommended Posts

I saw the RNZAF 727 the  other day so I decided to take a closer look and what a smart plane it is.

Starting at Wellington the original intention was to take off and turn towards the South Island.

This one of the three 727s operated by 40 sqdn served from July 1981 until 25th August 2003.

No doubt that this is Wellington.

The nose of this plane is now at the RNZAF Museum at Wigram.

Passing the top end of Wellington Harbour I decided to fly to Auckland instead.

At Porirua and turning towards NZAA. Actually the real NZ7272 was a Boeing 727-22C and not a 200 series as shown here.

Regardless it is a very pleasing rendition of this old plane.

More to come.

That's a beautiful thing Martyn! :)  The majority of my flights were on 727's and 737's,  once on a 707/DC10/747 and various other jets and props, thought you might be interested. :D  If not, just grin and bear it. :D

Lovely shots and such a great narration evenon this short intro of a flight.

I hope your passengers intending to land on the south island were not too surprised ending up in Auckland?

Thank you Adam, it is always interesting to me to hear about others stories from the past.

I didn't fly much until I came to Australia and then in the 80s it was Ansett 722s, 762s, F-27s, F-28s and one return flight on a TAA A300!

They are on a flight of wonder.
