TE US NorCal HD XP11 My Final Shots.

Recommended Posts

There is an architectual limitation with X-Plane that does not cater for traffic flowing over bespoke 3D models without using 3rd party traffic editing tools. The problem with those tools is that all traffic definition files are loaded by the sim regardless of global location you commence a flight in.

We have asked Laminar to address this issue but until there is a solution sadly we cannot burden the sim with countless trafffic control files for all our TE regions.

There are pros and cons to different sim platforms and wheras P3D handles traffic over custom models quite easily, unfortunately XP11 does not.

Nice set Iain.

4th from bottom shot - the airport & estuary system, possibly some aquaculture - where is that?

Thanks Iain.

I'll be looking for it when NorCal is released.

Those are the San Francisco Bay "Salt Ponds".  They exist on the south end of the bay near San Jose.  There are many articles out there about them.  One for reference can be read at https://www.kqed.org/science/1918301/what-are-those-weird-pink-ponds-in-san-francisco-bay

Nice, I was ready to buy X-plane just for the TE region, but I just saw this:

  • 16 GB of RAM (check)
  • GTX 1070 GPU or equivalent (NO, 1060 6G)
  • XP11 v11.35+
  • 225GB of free space (check)
  • i7 CPU or higher (NO, I5 8600K)

I run Xplane with an i5-7200K OC and a 6G 2060 card and I get an average of 30fps with settings at high only dropping to 20fps in major cities.  True earth works great for me and should for you too

The most important factor for a GPU is not so much it’s raw performance, but how much fast VRAM it has. With a 6GB card you are a bit compromised and for XP11 you will have to set the Texture Resolution slide to High, not maximum, otherwise you’ll get stuttering as textures are being shunted in and out of the GPU memory.

In this scenario I would go with the SD version of NorCal to reduce your memory footprint at lower altitudes.
