Wonderful image.

Flightradar24 had made spotting much easier these days from when I was interested in the late 60s with my CAM, VHF radio and 10 x 50 binos!

Yeah, one thing I regret is not taking photos from that era.

Plenty of wonderful planes with only a waist high fence separating the people from the planes I those days.

At Hurn if security weren't busy they would gladly take you around the hangars too.

Your right KDK regarding security. When I was a kid I would get dropped of

at the airport of a  Saturday and take photos of various aircraft. One

weekday I was there (a quiet day)on the observation deck and a grounds crew

gentleman must have recognised me and took me on a tour of a TAA DC9

that was resting for a few hours before the 5 o'clock flight to Melb. What's

my chances these days?

We don't even have an observation deck at YMML any more.

We were quizzed at YMML by some very friendly police a few years ago  at the end of 16.

The Feds at Canberra were also more than helpful when I wanted to take some photos there one Sunday afternoon.

Than must have been a great experience being shown round the DC-9.:)

As was said in one of the Flying High movies, nothing

was mentioned to me about having ever having seen a grown man naked.:D

This is a keeper!  What I wouldn’t give for a PMDG A380!

An alternative for those not living close to a major airport, is called the “contrail spotting”.

You need a bit of photo gear and some practice to frame the moving subjects correctly with limited blurries but technically you can do it anywhere.

For exemple, one shot taken from my garden, an A380 Emirates at FL 380 from New York to Dubai ;)
