TrueEarth US Washington - Further Exploration

These are some of the best screenshots I've seen yet! Thanks for posting these! I'd love to know what kind of performance you get on your system. X-Plane feels sort of like where we were at with FSX a few years back, where the computers hadn't quite caught up to the software and we were all just itching to get 30 fps. This looks absolutely amazing already! Can't imagine how much fun (and profitable for you :)) it will be when everyone's computers have caught up. X-Plane with ORBX looks like the sim of the future!

Another absolutely jaw-dropping set Mark.

I love them all. If I had to choose, the sunset one, and the one with the snow-capped mountain in the background, would both accompany me to a desert island  :D

Amazing Mark!  Love those valleys, much anticipated scenery here.  Orbx put a heck of a lot of work into this.

Hi and thank you GolfGuy72.... My experience with XP11.34 and True Earth on my PC is very positive in terms of performance, despite the age of my current setup. Over urban areas I can achieve around 25 to 30+fps and over rural area 50 to 60+fps, which I feel is perfectly acceptable given the above.  More current hardware will have no problems running this with both higher settings and screen resolutions... I'm limited to 1080p.  I think having 8GB of system RAM is the biggest hindrance, as the sim takes time to settle once the flight is loaded as scenery is still streamed in the background, and I will get some page file swapping at times during a flight.... 16GB should probably be considered the min.

My XP settings in the spoiler tab... I will sometimes increase AA and add higher reflections if I feel the need, with AA adding a minimal hit.

:D  Thanks Mark.... Lets hope you don't end up on a desert island... although it sometimes has it's appeal

Thanks Jack... The work input, of which I've seen some demonstrated to me, is mind boggling.  These guys are doing something very special indeed.

This is awesome to hear, Mark! I had downloaded the X-Plane 11 demo maybe a year back after hearing about improvements and came away very unimpressed with frame rates in the teens and twenties on a slightly more powerful system than yours. I am definitely going to have to give X-Plane another look, because these screenshots are pretty much jaw dropping, and your performance reports sound more than acceptable! Keep up the great work, Mark, and thanks for sharing this info. Much appreciated!

These shots are among the best I have seen for any simulator ever. The level of realism is stunning. True Earth with X-Plane actually looks like a flight simulator that we would have seen in a few years. This is a revolutionary leap in the flight sim space. Well done.

Super shots Mark and nice to hear what your performance is like as I also have an i5 2500k not overclocked as much as you but I do have the same graphics card and 16 gb of memory

I've certainly found recent iterations of XP11 to be very well optimised, and I hope you find similar results when you go back to it.

Thank you very much Mike.  I truly think LR and Orbx are a perfect match, bringing us very close to absolute realism..... and it can only get better B)

Hi and thanks Taph... I'm sure you'll be as delighted as I am in what you see.  Of course it would be nice to have better hardware, but you don't lose much despite the age of our core hardware.

The best decision Orbx/JV made was when they/he reversed the decision not to pursue with X-Plane. I think the TEGB and now the TE Washington pics are testimony to that.

Lovely shots.

Magic set Mark, for me TE brings out such unexpected and rich variations that Landclass will never have, nature is the ultimate creator, I see TE as being the standard going forward.

I totally agree... no matter how good the LC you can't possibly get the infinite variety of nature [and man]  There is always something new to see in TE.
