The next tour from Cairns is another obvious one: Out to the Barrier Reef, as long as it is there.

With the AW-109 it takes only 5 minutes...

... to discover that the AU scenery is already complete with excursion boats, kajaking and snorkeling tourists.Fz3k1Nb.jpg

Let´s visit Michaelmas Cay. John V. has recently shown us some great teasers of AUv2 reefs with great improvements, I´m keen to see that!

Jumping over to Vlasoff Cay, where I recognize my wave setting is a bit wild for swimming.

So I head back to the mainland, giving Green Island a short visit.

But not forgetting to stop at the official heli tour providers. So sorry there is only one seat left in my chopper...

My favourites. One is busy on the phone and the other on the glass.

Downtown Cairns, with the famous saltwater pool.

If there is a heli platform, use it!

Back again. Indeed Cairns has some sights.

A very pleasant tour of the reef and Cairns with a few other attractions in between.

I hope I have covered all helipads around in this flight... but a waterplane would also be usable here!

Thanks Mark, and have a happy Christmas, too!

I´m with you John. But I doubt it will be released this winter, before the migrating bird in me gets up north again.

Fantastic exploration, Gerold

Thank you Bernd. Without Plan-G I would be lost over these atolls.

Another great set of shots and narrative, thank you!

Thanks TT. I´ll be doing this tour next year again... which could result in a real life - AUv2 comparison post.

Hi Gerold

With ELIO is amazing you go anywhere ....

Gracias Patrick. One should always have some helicopters in the hangar...

That was so darned cool Gerold!  Man did I like these!

If you´d do this tour in a 747 I would not be too surprised, Jack :D.

Thank you Martyn. The reef slowly goes away with the increasing water temperatures. And the other attractions are even more likely to move.

Haven't been to the reef yet, but i'm going to now. :D  Fantastic shots Gerold! :)

Thanks Adam. Perhaps you even have some of the island add-ons that were created by @Richard Bui ? His Lady Musgrave island pack is outstanding.

Awesome heli tour, Gerold. A lot of things you don't see from Everest altitude. I hope you're well after the tsunami hit. ;)

Maybe this was the reason for the huge waves? If so I would lift my hat for the weather program.

Nice shots!

The longer ago, the better Jankees!

We all can see the increasing (over)tourism (in all big cities) and coral bleaching (in the tropical reefs).

Hey Gerold. You just took me through half my "bucket list." Thanks much!

Merci bien, Rodger. I hope I can eat something from the other half as well, maybe even in my next flights?
