Riparian Adventure.

Recommended Posts

A trip down the upper reaches of the River Thames.

1.kb1.jpg

Departing from EGBP Cotswolds Airport formerly RAF Kemble.

2.kb2.jpg

It is less than 2 miles to Thames Head and the source of the River Thames.

3.kb3.jpg

The Cotswold Water Park in a wildlife sanctuary in the lakes left after gravel mining not a fun park as the name may suggest!

4.kb4.jpg

The actual river is finally depicted at Calcutt close to Cricklade.

5.kb5.jpg

9 miles north of Swindon is RAF Fairford EGVA and the village of Kempsford.

6.kb6.jpg

Over the Western by pass A34 and almost at Oxford.

7.kb7.jpg

Oxford University.

8.kb8.jpg

9.kb9.jpg

Radley Lakes at Abingdon.

10.kb10.jpg

Didcot A and B powerstations. The coal/oil "A" has now been demolished just leaving the gas fired "B". The grey to the left of the power stations is the Didcot Railway Centre, one of the country's leading museum and preservation engineering sites.

11.kb11.jpg

Coming into land at RAF Benson EGUB.

12.kb12.jpg

Time for a rest before the next leg.

I hope you have enjoyed this flight along the Thames.

Nice flight!

But still, nobody makes Riparian adventures quite like Hyacinth Bucket ("Boo-KAY!").  :)

Thank you Penz, we loved the show and this is where I got the title for my flight from.:)

I think if Hyacinth was flying along I would have needed a C-130!

Next it is on to an area where they have a Mercedes,  swimming pool and room for a pony!:o

That was great Martyn!  I didn't know Oxford was in the sim.  Upper Heyford isn't too far away.  If I could get a do-over in life I'd find a way to attend Oxford.  Always been dream of mine.

Cheers Jack, I have made a few pleasant discoveries on this trip and you are correct that Upper Heyford is close to Oxford.:)

There is so much I would like to do if I got the chance again but sadly it won't happen:(
