Heading for one

Recommended Posts

A beautiful BOAC Douglas DC-7C, Seven Seas.

Setting out for a Trans Atlantic flight to New York with the south west tip of Ireland just in view.

Man, that is going to be one long journey, especially with the head winds that come from opposite direction :)

Let me know when you land so we can celebrate 20 years of birthdays for you :)

The end of an era though BOAC did last a few years longer - nice one.

Thanks OD, the last of the big piston liners along with the Starliner.

Cheers Sammy, Shannon and Gander airports were very important re fuelling stops in those days. Today people find 13 hours on a jet a long flight but in the 50s it could take 14-16 hours to cross the Atlantic in far less comfort.

Yup, one long flight but you'll do it in style Martyn.  I agree, less comfort back then but it was better back then, in my opinion.

As nice as the propliners were Jack I still like to travel in the 777! Higher and quicker.:)
