No porkers, just corkers of Orcas

Recommended Posts

Now I have installed P3DV3.4 along with a few bits and bobs, so it is time to give it a try from Darrington to Orcas Island.

1.1K1.jpg

One of the few planes I could find that would install into v3.4 is the Dove.

2.1K2.jpg

Good enough for the short flight to KORS.

3.1K3.jpg

Not exactly the most spritely of planes bit still enough runway left to save a trip to the dry cleaners.

4.1K4.jpg

Over the Arlington-Darrington Road.

5.1K5.jpg

Looking at the scenery it is oh so nice and passing Oso.

6.1K6.jpg

Overhead Lake McMurray and heading for the coastal plains.

7.1K7.jpg

The town of Mount Vernon and Hwy5.

8.1K8.jpg

KBVS Skagit, the PNW version and a pleasant change of weather.

9.1K9.jpg

Again yet to install the ORBX airport, this time at Anacortes.

10.1K10.jpg

Flying down East Sound with a couple of Orcas showing themselves.

11.1K11.jpg

A few onlookers at Mt Baker Road.

12.1K12.jpg

Some of the fixtures and fittings at KORS.

13.1K13.jpg

Some of the passengers waiting to be picked up for the charter flight.

14.1K14.jpg

A highly enjoyable flight to a place I have not been to for ages.

Hope you enjoyed looking.

Love these shots!

I saw a program last night which showed Orcas Island, as it featured an astronaut famous for taking the first picture of the Earth from a distance while orbiting the Moon; William (Bill) Anders.  It showed him taking off from KORS in what looked like a Cessna Bird Dog with a camo paint job.

The program was a doco called "Human Universe" with Brian Cox.

It seemed like Bill Anders lived on the Island.  Lucky guy!

Cheers,

Most excellent test flight Martyn!  The scenery is beautiful.

Oh, and I love the title of your post!

Thank you Jack, I do try and have unusual titles when I can. The scenery is even better in V3.4 and enhance of course by PTA.

Thanks Scott, I will take a look later and I do find Brian Cox so interesting.

Lots of places in the ORBX world that look so inviting to stay.

Classical sceneries and a classical plane. Always nice to remember!

I just love the planes from this era so much Gerold. I guess it is because they were the every day planes I saw when young but the Dove was a common sight.

Thank you Bluebear, a rare one now but I am able to see it in action at any time.

I can't get enough of this pastime.

Thanks so much for all of you who have taken the time to pass comment.

Fantastic shots, Martyn, of my favorite Orbx airport (KORS)!

I loved KORS in default FSX, and a chance sighting of a photo of the Orbx version about a year ago is what got me back into this great hobby after a long hiatus.

Congrats on 3.4!

Steve

Thanks Steve and this is a truly great area to fly in with the added benefit of some top class freeware airport too.
