It is a P-47 Thunderbold  Gerold.

It was the biggest heaviest single engine fighter of WW2.

Must be Republic day what with the Thud earlier.

Great shot Chunk.

I am currently downloading the new V3 SAK, still 3 hours to go on that one and next will be NRM.

Some when today there will be KFHR too so plenty of new skies today I hope!

Nice shots!  But I had to chuckle at the thread title, "Somewhere above NRM..."

 

Reminded me of what my first flight instructor told me during my PPL training.  "Never say 'I'm lost' to ATC.  Say you are 'temporarily disoriented'. It will save both you as the pilot and the ATC controller from having to fill out a lot of FAA paperwork."  :)

LOL!!!  That's good advice.

 

I took off from Felts Field, and headed northeast.  The A2A moving map said I was somewhere north of Lake Pend Oreille. :D
