With a slight turn over Marvel stadium... ... towards St. Kilda. Lake Borrie, just before crossing... ... Avalon. Barwon Heads, I think I have experienced the elevation errors here for years now. At Torqay (with the Tiger Moth World) we encounter the Southern Ocean. Passing Anglesea, ... ... and Airey´s Inlet, ... ... before heading into Apollo Bay. With its sloped runway it was always a bit difficult to use, but the location is brilliant: Either to jump to Tasmania, or continue westwards the Ocean Road.
  2. Hello everyone, A question that has often been asked is 'will you update YMML one of these days?'. Well the good news is that the guys at Turbulent Designs have begun work on YMML Version 3, a major update of this iconic airport which will feature the following improvements: Full ground poly for super crisp imagery at all gates, aprons and taxiways The new Terminal 4 and Transport Hub The new Control Tower Improved performance by optimisation Improved PeopleFlow and static objects Simultaneous release for FSX, P3Dv1/2/3 and also a version for FSX:Steam Edition via DTG This is a large project to undertake and we hope to have it completed by the middle of the year if not sooner. There will be an upgrade fee of AU$9.95 (£5.00 US$7.00 €6.50) for all existing owners of YMML V1 or V2. This upgrade offer will only be available for a month after release. Here's some of the improvements planned (from the official airport site): We will show beta screenshots when it's in testers hands.

  4. This video is a FSX flight of a simulated Beechcraft Duke Turbine aircraft using PRO-ATC/X. The flight departs from Melbourne International Airport (YMML), a.k.a. Tullarmarine Airport, in Tullamarine, Victoria, Australia and arrives at Launceston Airport (YMLT) in the rural area of Western Junction near Launceston, Tasmania. Based on YouTube analytical data, I’ve changed the format of my flight videos. The average person only watches for about 2 minutes. The best I can do with a flight is about 20 minutes. (Sometimes less time but usually because of the wonderful scenery more time.) I am concentrating on departures, landings and scenery while still having most of the important air traffic control (ATC) commands too. I am retired and a hobby flight simulator enthusiast user name Polymerman.   5. I just wanted to start a flight at Melbourne... but I could not, as this light was simply fascinating me.
  6. Using the Carenado 850 in p3d failed two times, when I tried to do a flight from Christchurch to Auckland. Frustrated I was and went over to other planes. But now I collected all my remaining mental strength and gave her another chance: Out of Launceston (in the look of the early 2000s)... ... over the Northeast coast... ... towards Wilsons Prom. NP. Passing Moorabbin... ... and with two other city airports in sight. Oh well, with the CBD, too. About to land... Wow, there are some bigger jets than mine around here... Be careful, it sucks! 550 people deboarding from the A380, ready to hurry to immigration. Just 4 people deboarding here. We could be a bit faster at the bar....! PS: Yessss, this time the 850 was successful with no CTD! Great!
  7. Well today is the day I start a 2 months holiday to Thailand leaving YMML at 3:15 this afternoon on TG773 HS-TKA. 28.
  8. Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the airport. 1. A few elevation problems at YMML. 2. Then the Vectors airport elevation corrections thingy would not run. A quick search on the forums found the problem, deleted the 8 files as suggested and all is fixed. I do get worried when problems are so easy to fix.
  9. No problems in Melbourne Tullamarine after forcing my sim back to the 1024² resolution. And the immersion stays acceptable with this setting... Turning into Avalons 36 over Port Henry ... ... - just to see I have double textures on the ground in KMAV. A quick search on my HDD showed there was a second (photoreal) scenery for Avalon active. Just as so often: "Are you already flying or still repairing your sim?"
  10. OK - strictly the other way around... Departing YMML to have a look-see at the replaced ground textures to the east of the terminal buildings. Lots of taxiing to do first...   14. It's really great to see the "back catalogue" getting some attention. I always liked the original YMML - attractive, without quite the framerate hit of YBBN. The updated version just released is a real treat. So much going on (obviously a very busy, modern airport!) ... but with plenty of *atmosphere* (always a difficult thing to put your finger on). I used to think a DC-3 was BIG! Spotted an old favourite ... Even the apron texture looks great!! My two favourite airline logos: the Koru and the Kangaroo! These pics don't really show the YMML in all its glory - I was just amazed at the level of detail given to just the static/AI aircraft. I haven't been loitering there for long enough to see which of these are static and which are down to Graham Eccelston's amazing AI. Either way - they look stunning. Adam.

  16. ... in my personal history started in Launceston on a Saturday morning, leaving the hotel at 07:00. After a coffee with a friend at YMLT take-off was 08:40 hrs local time. Did I ever mention Lainceston airport has changed significantly since Orbx created the epic freeware? Leaving Tassie behind... Stopover in a rainy Melbourne. I have to admit the real flight was a 787, but as she is lacking a good representation in the sim, the 777 was my choice. Adding a bit more realism, I followed the correct flight plan. Nice to know the alternate airports on the way, as well as the ETOPS turning points. And good to know that Tim & Ken have already upgraded the Alternate which is nearly halfway... Greeting Sydney... ... and waving goodbye to OZ, at around 14:15 h local time. Which means you head into the night soon after. Here we find ourselves just about 200 mls out of Pago Pago. Now that is just a short hop! Still 4000 mls to go... Changing the hemispheres, for me this means from down under to upside up. Let´s summarize this view: In India it is still daytime, Saturday. In Brazil it is already daytime, also Saturday. And we are in the middle of the night. Good to repeat and realize this craziness in the sim... Good morning! The real wind (compare with the routing map above, it matches!) makes us gain lots of time on this route. Get up folks. I think I may post this blurry picture here with the impression of the 787´s mood light. A great plane, but stay away from the noisy galleys! Here we are, well prepared for the lovely approach into Los Angeles, with Catalina Island ahead. DX10 has given a lot to FSX... ... as well as Orbx SoCal. Ready for final, and into full brakes. Here we are. After 22 hrs of travel, started on Saturday morning, we have now arrived ... on the same Saturday morning. And when you see the lovely breakfast in United´s business longe, you know you have arrived in the USA. A long day makes a long post. I can not apologize for 31 pictures selected...
  17. It's been such a long time since I flew in Australia. Very glad to revisit the area again, especially now that the Melbourne scenery does not scare my computer anymore...Here is the departure from Melbourne and the pilot is heading to Port Lincoln. The cloud shadows in the water come from Cumulus X It PC-12 is really flying well...almost too well over the Port Lincoln runway... Cheers!

  19. Tullamarine looks great, even compared to reality. Essendon also is full of details to discover. But to me the Queen city could get an updated cityscape, with proper mesh, bridges, Southbank, ... ... Rod Laver arena, Hilton hotel and some more. So let´s enjoy what we have got... .... and have a good evening!

I recently picked up a rather nice Piper Warrior I by Spike Productions from the FlightSim store (where I've bought all my Orbx add-ons as well), and took it for a quick journey from Avalon Airport near Geelong (Orbx YMAV add-on) to Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne (Orbx YMML add-on). Here are four screenshots I took of that short trip. Parked on a ramp at Avalon Airport Looking at the aircraft from the other side, with a bunch of hangars in the background. I was particularly pleased with this next shot as I took off from Avalon. Descending on the upwind leg, preparing to turn for the final approach to the runway at Tullamarine. Downtown Melbourne is in the background.

  22. Spent all yesterday flying Airbus airliners. Did a couple of complete flights and a few departures from recently purchased Asian airports. 1. What a bummer. Won't be seeing this sight from the end of 34 at YMML in the future. From what I read SQ are only using A330s and 777 out of Melbourne now. 2. Just left Chek Lap Kok for Haikou. Dare I say it two amazing add on airports. 3. Out of PAGS over the spectacular mountains 4. Never thought I would see the day when I enjoyed something to do with Jetstar. Glad it is only simulation, had nightmares last night. A successful training flight from Mildura to YMML. Sorry I don't want the job. 5. First flight out of VHHH and heading west from Macau. 6. Another shot of the SQ special livery to celebrate 50 years of Singapore. Good to see them doing special liveries again. This time out of Narita.
