  1. Flying in Courchevel Altiport (LFLJ) (French Alps). Scenery by ORBX Simulation Systems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCDUuE1L4Ew I hope you like it ;)
  2. The ortho around the Isle of Man is on another level to the rest of the UK scenery, so I thought I'd check it out, close and personal in VR
  3. Is it just me or am I getting addicted to uploading my screenshots lol
  4. Took off from Innsbruck on a sunny morning, returned on a cloudy and rainy afternoon.
  5. I have done the test with city airport and back to square one with the setting and i had to clear the preference folder. Same as before wit my other videos. I have a I7 at 1.7 gig and a 1080 card that is over clocked. but the shear mass of detail that is moving around with Orbx London city means the detail has to go down. Perhaps Shoreham and Brighton lots of green and buildings that look the same have been optimized, who knows they never tell you. we still have buildings floating in the air and yet they are producing airports at a fantastic rate I only hope that they will return and try to optimise and put things right. what I will say is that Orbx is my number one choice, I would love to own all of the UK but as I mentioned before at what cost. Talent costs money and PC's and new headsets are getting beyond my range now I am medically retired 7 years before my pension is due. I will carry on annoying you all with videos for fun and wonky,s Blog! but as the days go on it might start looking dated. I have done the test with city airport and back to square one with the setting and i had to clear the preference folder
  6. X-Plane. Orbx EGLC London City Airport. But it's killed my frame rate. First, let me apologise again for the far to frequent use of the word fantastic. I will put a large yellow post-it on my monitor to remind me not to use it! And so we have a new Product from ORBX ie EGLC London City Airport. the download has a small error that they are working on regarding a Land rover file. I was so excited to see this airport arrive as it's my second home for Heli flying being the inroad to the great city of London. Now I will start by saying it might be me but with the same graphics settings that I usually run they have dropped on flat screen from 45 -50 to 9-20. at the moment it's virtually un-flyable for me. I have a 4.7 gig with 32 gigs of ram and a 1080 card. I think it's the type of system that many users will have? Perhaps aircraft will not have the problem the Heli pilot has or I hope I find a problem on the PC but everything else is running fine ie Arma 111 and DCS so perhaps this is one stage too far in terms of detail and low flying. Fingers crossed it can be put right or as I said I hope it's me! I don't want to be paying for detail that I have to turn down just to be able to fly a Helicopter low down in London. I will still say what a fabulous job they have done I only hope it's me because London is starting to look beautiful in X plane with the ORBX updates. 7. X-Plane 9-10-FPS Answer for London City Airport on my system. VR flight around Airport and London. What a few days! Anyone who has followed my problems with the very low frame rates after downloading the Orbx city Airport and upgrading the libraries will know that I ended up with 9-10FPS on my standard settings that previously gave 40-60 FPS on a flat-screen. VR was impossible. One of the guys on the Orbvx forums put me in the right direction by deleting the preferences folder? This was new to me so I can't say why it works but the results proved to be worth the effort. I still get the stutters now and again but for flying low down in a very graphics-rich area it seems to work. I must apologise if this has been discussed before, but I have my sanity back. sorry for the voice also this is a part of my condition called dystonia and even that had to go in a sound editor, what ever next. The file that has to be deleted is D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\X-Plane 11\Output\preferences but you leave the one yellow one called control profiles. The downside is that this file on my system gets corrupted again and I have to do the process again before each evenings flight. I am running steam x plane in beta, and it could be my system. But the benefit for VR in the Orbx London area with city airport is well worth it. If you try it let me know if it cures any other low VR frame rate issues at other locations. I also had problems with oculus tray working sometimes really well and then next time not so good. Oh! for the day you just switch your computer on and it just works. Visual Effects 1 up, Texture quality 3 up, Anti aliasing 0, Number of worlds objects 3 up, Reflection at 0, No parked Aircraft. Oculus tray 1.4. no ASW. 8. I am having to delete the x plane preference file for every session after installing all the new library, London City Airport, and the update on true earth south. 9 to 10 FPS and the delete the file x plane preference file and restart 36 FPS for that one x plane session. But when it runs at 36 FPS London city airport looks fantastic. Posted a few screen shots in the screenshot group. and here is a a low down under London bridge to shows it does run at 36 FPS after deleting the file and starting again. It could be steam, It could be X Plane Beta, It could be Orbx. I dont think it's me as DCS and Arma11 are all fine. But it looks fantastic when it runs. Dave. Wonky Joystick Productions.
  9. So I have the answer to the 10FPS to the 36 FPS. But it doesn't last? I was on the ORBX site and a chap pointed me in the direction of a thread that had a similar problem. As you will see on the video it answered my frame rate problems in one go! bit the next time back in X plane it's back to the low frame rate, but it's a good trick to know. the post is from a chap called Renault Life Member who is a life member of the Orbx forum and the king gentleman who pointed me in the right direction is John Dow Life Member also of the Orbx group, many thanks to both of them! It might not be the full answer but it points in the right direction, it was great to get one flight with the new scenery at a high frame rate. Oh well, we will have to keep searching as it looks like I am not alone with the problem. You will have to look about halfway down the thread. the link is in the you tube description.
  10. Quite a thrilling day to fly. Huge thunderstorm, with heavy windshields, lots of rain and strong turbulence.
  11. Yesterday I did this same flight on XP11. Tried it today on P3D to feel the pros and cons. After the flight, my first impressions are: 1) The airports are very much the same at either platform, all very beautiful and detailed. 2) I feel that TE Washington is light-years ahead from PNW/P3D. The difference between both is stunning. Even though I love ORBX PNW/P3D, IMO TE Washington provides the most realistic views I have ever seen. 3) For me, in P3D the weather representation is still better than in XP11 (including seasons, rain, snow and better turbulence effects) - this has nothing to do with ORBX. My conclusions: - It is a pleasure to fly across this region in both platforms, each sim has its weaknesses and strengths. - TE Washington is the most stunning product I have seen in years. Well done ORBX! - XP11 or P3D? For me, both!!!!
  12. Hope that you enjoy watching this set of images at this precious little airport.
  13. Inspired by the recent excellent post from our colleague @carlosqr, I decided to also go back to the lovely Walter Sutton airfield. I agree with him - it is really a quite special place to fly!
