  1. Here we go for a quick hop from Edinburgh, Scotland, ... ... departing to the north, ... ... but quickly turning to the southwest, to encounter the Irish Sea. Starting the descent over Manchester... ... and approaching our destination over Long Eaton. We were called for a series of holdings ... ... before I declared emergency because lack of fuel, so that I could enjoy Donington racecourse... ... and my first virtual visit to East Midlands airport. I have landed there in real life at least a dozen times (with BMI, not BA) when we had a sister company nearby. @bernd1151 will probably know.
  2. ... to the mainland of Scotland I mean. And in the direction to Africa, as you all may imagine. So here we get ready for the flight in Stornoway... ... over the Highlands, ... ... and Loch Ness. With a slight optical problem where others regularly see a monster in the water. A limited view of Edinburgh... ... before pulling the brakes, ... ... and turning into final. At least with a good visibility. Please deboard quickly, we have to fly on!
  3. Another re-fly of a RL flight. I did this one as a pax 7 years ago. Unfortunately I do not have an Eastern Airways livery for my Dash 8. And, also unfortunately, the gatekeepers of Edinburgh airport did not cut the grass as completely as they should. The winterly highlands around Loch Ericht. In my real flight the visibility was the same: Clouds and fog... The plane was bumping up and down, and suddenly the sea could be seen through a window, only a few meters under us. My first thought was "these pilots fly here and under these conditions every day, so they know what they are doing". A severe offset, but at least I hit the runway. Happy passengers get off in Stornoway.
  4. After we finished our work, we still had some hours to spend before our return flights went off Stornoway. So we did a little tour around the island´s north (and this is well at the end of the continent...). This is the big city, with CBD, harbour and golf course. Just some few minutes by plane over the brown plains (inhabited by more cattle then men) we reach the west coast at Callanish. A detail of the Callanish Standing Stones and the visitor centre. Bresclete, where we worked at a company´s site. Blackhouse village should be here, a tourist attraction hidden in the valleys. And just a few minutes later we return to Stornoway, here with a slight offset...
  5. Time to leave Europe, as I have to inspect a new instalment to my P3D. Getting the Airbus ready in Bergen... ... and heading out over the North Sea... ... towards Scotland. A slightly limited view welcomes us ... ... which cleared up upon further descent. Edinburgh city, but beware: This is not the hop-on-hop-off tour. Here we are, ready to explore the surrounding. I have stayed at the airport seven years ago, maybe I can find the hotel in Orbx scenery as well... it needs to be inspected as every new purchase!
  6. Newcastle to Prestwick Enjoy and thanks for looking! P3DV3 - ASN Weather Cheers Karsten
  7. (that's how I imagine a Scot would pronounce it) Sumburgh to the mainland Was actually aiming for Lossimouth - but landed at Kinloss. That took some explaining... More or less cropped DX10s Cheers Mallard
  8. Cross-country from Inverness to Oban Cromarty Kylesku Bridge Rhue Lighthouse near Ullapool Plockton Eilean Donan Castle Ben Nevis Fort William Corran Lighthouse Enjoy and thanks for looking! FSX - DX10 - Shade - ASN Weather Cheers Karsten
  9. Buccaneering around (or better: over) Scotland Cropped, but otherwise unedited DX10s. Cheers Mallard
  10. Oil rig workers on their way home for the weekend, out of Edinburgh... ... to Bergen. Fantastic light effects on the approach. Some of them wanted to go on into the mountains the next morning. So northbound out of Bergen... ... across the fjords... ... to Haukasen, one of my favourite airfields in that region - a location like "Telluride-by-the fjords". Still pretty cold up here. My project "heading into warmer climate" just does not work well...
  11. From the Isle of Lewis to the Isle of... how´s it named, "Britain"? No matter, it is Scotland, still part of Europe. A job for real men. No much catering will be needed on this flight. Stornoway take-off... ... the Highlands, ... ... Loch Ness, ... ... and Edinburgh. As there were rumours told in the pubs, I joined the local police on a little heli trip back to the Loch (with manipulated weather, in order to cross the mountains safely...). Obviously, the stories have not been influenced by spiritual drinks. All is true.
  12. Dublin to Inverness Enjoy and thanks for looking! FSX - DX10 - Shade - ASN Weather Cheers Karsten
  13. I'm not getting much flying done these days - and it's almost impossible to catch up on commenting on the great screenies that have been posted over the last few days... So here is a blanket "Great pics!" But I did manage a flight yesterday, departing from Cardiff, heading north and finally touching down at Prestwick. Not much to see at the outset. Date, yesterday, time 9:30 a.m., weather by ASN: Passing over the Liverpool / Manchester area with the Peak District in the background: Over the Cumbira coast, heading for the Lake District: Over the Dumfries and Galloway Coast: Galloway Forest Park: More or less cropped DX10s Cheers Mallard
  14. Some from a flight from Sumburgh to Dundee Using a slightly different angle... Back over Scotland "proper" the weather closed in... Cropped DX10s Cheers Mallard

  19. Inspired by John's (fiftysix) superb P3D DSR shots of Sumburgh earlier, I wanted to see how my FSX DX10 with DSR enabled looked...not too shabby for an old girl
  20. In this case, VIP is the abbreviation for Very Important Parcel. The VIP is Gerold's Oban Whisky. But start at the beginning. After arriving the previous day at Inverness (http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/79483-flying-home-to-berlin-part-1/), i spent the night there and continue my travel back home the next day. Inverness Dundee Firth of Forth Newcastle Humber Bridge Leaving England Near Antwerp, Belgium Cologne. Alex, i hope you have seen me! Hannover Gerold, I've deposited your bottles of Oban Whisky in a locker. You have to ask at the information which locker it is. Magdeburg River Havel between Brandenburg and Werder Berlin Back home! Enjoy and thanks for looking! FSX - DX10 - Shade
  21. Just like Kasi (http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/79483-flying-home-to-berlin-part-1/), I am slowly making my way home (and that is the location where I switch from one Orbx region to another... ). But it is still some flights to go, as I do not take a simple jetliner - for sure. Here we go, from Edinburgh... ... into the usual scottish (REX) weather ... ... with sun and rain. I guess that is what they call "spring". Torness nuclear power plant ... ... and the much more sustainable energy source nearby: This place is called "Windmill Industrial Estate", guess why? In RL there are chemical plants from MSD and Aesica down there, with much less buildings. ILS approach with the Lancair towards Newcastle, ... Followed by a short city tour: St. James Park, near to Chinatown (fantastic restaurants there!) Millenium bridge - closed, be careful, mates! And a short look at the Angel of the North:
  22. Edinburgh is certainly a highlight of the scottish scenery. Even though I did not find a proper livery for the beloved low&slow sightseer... Murray Field: The Castle: The Scottish Parliament (will they be independant shortly?): Port of Leith: The Forth bridges (you know what we are doing here, don´t you?): Kincardine bridge... ... again, with the Grangemouth refinery in the background: Stirling Castle just behind: Falkirk wheel, well fitted into the scenery: Plus some close ups...: VIP transport to Murray Field (do they have VIPs at a Rugby stadium?): St. Marys Cathedral: The Scott Monument: Hibernian FC stadium: Chasing the doves in Port of Leith: Hope you enjoy this nice place!
  23. After buying some souvenirs in Oban (Guess what! ), i hit the trail to Berlin with a nice low and slow flight to Inverness with a stop at Aviemore Feshie Airstrip. Enjoy and thanks for looking! FSX - DX10 - Shade
  24. After our (virtual) meeting in Stornoway, Gerold flew back to Aberdeen in his Dash 8. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/79361-how-i-met-kasi-last-week-on-the-isle-of-lewis/ I left Stornoway in the early morning to fly to Oban. Enjoy and thanks for looking! FSX - DX10 - Shade, thanks to Jaydor/James for the great livery!
  25. There Is No Alternative to doing this in Edinburgh: And if you are stabilized on the right level, the double scotch is more than logical.
