  1. An other fine Island-scenery is airport Sumburgh(EGPB) on one of the Shetland Islands about 90NM Nth of the Scottish coast and about halfway the UK and Norway. Hereby some vieuws in different aircrafts:
  2. A very welcome addition to my hangar is the Trinidad and Tobago. A beautiful plane which was a fairly common sight when I lived in Mildura with the TB-10 trainers making their way up from Adelaide. So using my accumulation of reward points and it being on sale made this plane an extremely reasonable buy from JF. A circuit around tropical Sumburgh, all self explanatory. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
  3. New video trying out the gorgeous Sumburgh scenery with an instructor on board and a stab at that offset ILS on Rwy27!
  4. Carenado Hawker H25B H850XP, FTX Samburg EGPB, AS16, etc. Cheers, Voyager
  5. (that's how I imagine a Scot would pronounce it) Sumburgh to the mainland Was actually aiming for Lossimouth - but landed at Kinloss. That took some explaining... More or less cropped DX10s Cheers Mallard
  6. Although I have been born and bred in New Zealand, my mother comes from the Shetland Islands, and I have actually been there at the age of 12. So I was quite delighted to see that one of the Orbx add-on airports was Sumburgh, near Lerwick. I did a flight in FSX last year from Sumburgh (EGPB) to Unst (EGPW, I think that is), where I have lots of relatives, in a Piper Arrow IV. Unfortunately, I didn't take any screenshots in the air, but here are some ground shots anyway, including a few nice ones of Sumburgh: Parked at a very chilly Sumburgh. My parked plane from another angle, with a view of the terminal building in the background. Starting to taxi. Excellent view of the terminal building in this one. Approaching a parking ramp in Unst. Not an add-on airport, but still a big improvement on the default version, which just had a runway and nothing else!
  7. Hey guys, I just picked up WLS, ENG (already had SCO). I am thinking about getting NIR and IRL while the sale special is happening. I did read while back that Orbx wasn't contemplating making airports for those region that time. Will there potential for some nice Orbx airports (especially catered to big and small planes) in 2016 for these 2 regions? Also - I know you guys do not give updates on time frame; but can you throw me a bone about EGHI, EGPB, EGKA update queue for P3Dv3. I bought the regions especially to have those airports. I actually do like all of your England airports. I just want to know are they up in queue for release soon or will it take like 6 months+. You guys do have lot of stuff on your P3Dv3 conversion queue. This way I can plan on when to buy those specific airports. Thank You.
  8. Enjoy and thanks for looking! FSX - DX10 - Shade - ASN Weather, edited with Google Picasa
  9. Some from a flight from Sumburgh to Dundee Using a slightly different angle... Back over Scotland "proper" the weather closed in... Cropped DX10s Cheers Mallard
  10. Enjoy and thanks for looking! FSX - DX10 - Shade, edited with Google Picasa

  13. The mailman brings letters, news & supplies to this wonderful Island
  14. Just a few from a quick spin around Sumburgh in the Chipmunk I actually landed (with full intention) on the helicopter strip to test the brakes Needed some maintenace afterwards... Cropped DX10s Cheers Mallard
  15. ...burgh that is. Quite a bumpy ride with lots of icing... Cropped FSX DX10s. Cheers Mallard
  16. Another two-in-one set First pics are from another Hawker shakedown flight from Redding to Monterey I had to brighten the last two pics marginaly, otherwise they would have been too dark. Oh, and here's one from the pit: if you should be interested... The other flight was made from Edinburgh to Sumburgh - testing how well the UK2000 airport fits in FTX Scotland Cheers Mallard
  17. Some from a quick flight around Sumburgh... A bit of cropping and resizing. Otherwise this is just good old FSX doing its tricks. Cheers Mallard
  18. My first look at Sumburgh... Got called out by OPS1 to check on an intrepid yachtsman who had run afoul on one of the cliffs nearby Picked him up and headed back to base The medic said he would probably be better off on the mainland - luckily there was a plane just about to leave which also had a spare place free Cheers Mallard PS - I've been away from the sim a while (and will be again as from tomorrow) - but would still like to thank the screenshot-members for posting some great pics over the last few days
  19. I picked a new card a couple days ago and it seems to perform quite well in P3D, even with very high anti-aliasing. The great folks at EVGA offered me a GTX Titan Black SC after my 780 kicked the bucket for some odd reason. The cool thing is I'm seeing close to a whopping 4GB of texture memory being used by P3D V2.2 on the new card. They have really done a great job with what used to be the old ESP engine.
  20. Dear Lars and Martin Having a lovely time up here in Sumburgh. The place you organised for me to stay in is a small abandoned cottage on the edge of a cliff. Very nice but very dangerous. The tours in the Twin Otter are fantastic and I've sent you some postcards to show you what it's like up here. Apart from the weather it's really nice. Keep up the good work. Best wishes from a cold and lonely pilot.
  21. According to our sim, it should still be winter up there in the north. I hope that reality matches this instruction. Taking off from Stornoway... ... across Kylesku bridge, famous, because "it was opened by the Queen on 8 August 1984 at 10.05am, accompanied by Princess Margaret. It was the first bridge the Queen had opened in Scotland since the Forth Road Bridge in September 1964." (if you ever wanted to know it.) Impressive - is this Arkle mountain? Less impressive: The Dounreay nuclear experiment zone. Quite a pity that one often has to read sentences like "Historically much of Dounreay's nuclear waste management was poor. ... predicted that more problems will be encountered from old practices at the site as the decommissioning effort continues. Some parts of the plant are being entered for the first time in 50 years. // ... allowing nuclear fuel particles to be released into the sea, ... . Due to the uranium and plutonium held at the site, it is considered a security risk ..." about such areas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dounreay). Flotta LPG terminal: Kirkwall: Sanday Island with the windmills and jetty of Loth: On final to Sumburgh (default FTX): A king under kings. Obviously the right choice of aircraft here.
