  1. Have these black tiles creeping into my latest version of P3D V4, Orbx England and USA (North/South California). Orbx is installed into the main P3D folder. So far I have uninstalled all areas and global libraries. Then reinstalled each of them. Have tried: If your Orbx Libraries are installed into the P3D folder: Please try renaming Scenery\BASE\Scenery\lclookup.bgl to lclookup.bgl .off Run Verify files for the Orbx Libraries which will replace the lclookup.bgl file. Have run verify files on every product, multiple times. These little black tiles are not going anywhere. Europe region, plain old global region, Aus V2 and New Zealand dont suffer from missing/replaced titles. attached is default jet NE of EGGP and PMDG 737 NW of KSAN
  2. Welcome to Hollywood! We are enormously excited to announce Hollywood Burbank Airport, a comprehensive airport and cityscene package for Prepar3Dv4 & v5. Seasoned developer Matteo Veneziani has spent the past twelve months (since Olbia Costa Smeralda) creating one of our most expansive airport products to date. Beyond the immediate airport vicinity, the scenery includes a large section of the northern Los Angeles metro area, encompassing the entire San Fernando valley and surrounding mountains. As one of our most requested destinations, an incredible amount of attention has been spent finessing all the details of the airport, including complete PBR textures, unique GSE, vehicles and static aircraft. A key focus of this project has been performance optimization, with ground-breaking techniques implemented to ensure a seamless experience with your favorite addon aircraft. Burbank airport is one of the primary airports of the Los Angeles area, with mainline carriers flying to destinations across the US. As the closest airport to downtown LA and the major film studios, it is also highly popular with corporate traffic, as well as being a major cargo hub for FedEx and UPS. Matteo has modeled the airport with incredible attention to detail to both airside and landside aspects. The custom static aircraft can be disabled or enabled via control panel settings, as well as a host of other performance-based preferences. Aside from trans-continental flights to locations such as Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas and Denver, Burbank is located a short distance from favorite Orbx destinations such as Palm Springs, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Monterey. Beyond the airport boundary, explore the enormous 1400km2 coverage area. Encompassing the entire San Fernando Valley and surrounding mountain ranges, the extended cityscene component includes dozens of custom landmarks, custom autogen vegetation, high resolution DEM and hand-edited orthoimagery. Special attention has been paid to the film studios, commercial areas and Universal Studios theme park to the south of the airport. Cross over the Hollywood Hills to explore the Griffith Observatory and iconic Hollywood sign. All non-residential buildings have been created using new modelling techniques, ensuring a balance between high detail, unique content (no repeated roof textures) and accuracy. As well as the main airport, the scenery also includes several rooftop helipads, and most importantly, lite renditions of both Van Nuys and Whiteman general aviation airports. Special care has been given to optimization with this project. Aside from techniques used in other recent projects, a key factor in the performance of Burbank is the large coverage area. Using the same advanced optimization methods implemented in projects such as Innsbruck, Palm Springs and Santa Barbara, the project has also been designed to work seamlessly with either Global Base or SCA Southern California (landclass region), depending on the flying style and preference. Understanding the performance issues often associated with the LA basin, and every effort has been made to optimize scenery for extended approaches into the airport. COVERAGE AREA AT A GLANCE - Complete ultra-HD rendition of Hollywood Burbank Airport (KBUR) - Custom modelling throughout, with complete PBR textures - 1400km2 of extended cityscape scenery with complete SoCal vegetation types & building agn - Covers the entirety of the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, as well as surrounding mountain ranges and Hollywood Hills - Beautiful hand-coloured and edited ground textures at 30cm & 1m resolution - Dozens of points of interest, including major film lots, Universal Studios, Hollywood Sign, Griffith Observatory and more - Unique GSE and static aircraft fleet unique to Burbank - don't expect to see generic airside vehicles or unexpected aircraft types - Custom vegetation, grass and non-airside detailing - Optimized for use with default and well-known AI programs - Incredibly detailed landside approaches - all industrial buildings, parking lots and retail/fast-food areas modeled in full - High-resolution 10m DEM - All non-residential buildings as custom 3D models with unique roof textures - 2x Bonus Lite Airstrips: KVNY Van Nuys and KWHP Whiteman - Several skyscraper helipads available for your rotary wing adventures - Implements start-of-the-art optimization techniques to ensure best performance - Developed by Matteo Veneziani COMPATIBILITY - Designed to work best with Global Base or Orbx SCA Southern California LC Region (or both!) - Completely compatible with OpenLC North America (requires Global or SCA in addition) - Completely compatible with Vector (requires Global or SCA in addition) We hope you enjoy the first previews of Matteo's latest work. Please keep an eye on the forums and our social media over coming weeks for more information and shots. Cheers!
  3. Hello, I'm quite new to Orbx and just recently installed the Northern California HD scenery, but when I load up X-Plane it gives me this error in the top right, There was a problem loading the scenery package Resources/default scenery/default atc dat/ The scenery may not look correct. Please see the Log.txt file for detailed error information. This only happened when I installed Orbx after reinstalling X-Plane with 0 plugins and just add-on aircraft so far. I have searched around and have not yet found a fix for this yet, so if there is anyone that know what might be causing the problem please help, thanks!
  4. Hello team! I hope the title was enough to describe the issue, but here's a photo too! TSL HQ is minutes from here and naturally would love to see it look right. I have FTX Global, OpenLC NA, and Northern CA region installed. Thoughts?
  5. Some random shots around the NCA and SCA regions near to Orbx's photo scenery areas 'Easter Eggs'. Another one coming in for the chop at Mojave aircraft boneyard F-35C out of Edwards AFB F-35C racing a car on the Hyundai/Kia Proving Grounds Cinder Cone and lava flow with Mount Lassen in background View over Humboldt Bay and Eureka Imperial Beach Pier and Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve with San Diego on the horizon.
  6. G'day everyone, I'm delighted announce our latest airport for IPACS Aerofly FS2: Montery Regional Airport! Whilst everyone has been enjoying both Meigs Field and Innsbruck for Aerofly FS2, ORBX and IPACS have been continuing our close relationship with ongoing development behind the scenes. A classic ORBX destination that was originally released for FSX and P3Dv4, Monterey Regional Airport has been brought to life for the new simulator. Depicted as it was in 2014-2015, the airport surely ranks as one of the most scenic in California, and for good measure is located smack dab in the heart of the default IPACS scenery area. Because of this central location, Monterey is perfect for exploring the rugged coastal ranges of Big Sur, the famous beaches of Carmel and Pebble Beach, and flights into the dry valleys of central California. Better yet, Monterey is the ideal home base for short regional flights in the exceptional new freeware Q400 to San Francisco, Los Angeles or Palm Springs. For those not yet to experience high-fidelity scenery in Aerofly FS2, expect to find extremely dense building and vegetation cultivation, incredible crisp terrain textures (all the way to the horizon!) and effortlessly smooth performance. For the first time in AFS2, we also introduce ultra-high-res 5m digital elevation mesh (DEM), which will ensure an even higher level of immersion. All this provides the perfect groundwork for Monterey's famous sloped runway - there is over 30m in elevation drop from east to west! Monterey is a beautifully scenic city located a short distance south of San Francisco, along the Central Pacific Coast. With a strong Spanish heritage (note the influence in some aspects of the airport architecture), Monterey is also home to a varied calendar of well-known events and locations; the annual Monterey Jazz Festival, PGA Pro-Am Golf and several championships at Laguna Seca Raceway ensure an interesting mix of aircraft at KMRY, whilst Cannery Row, Fisherman’s Wharf and the myriad of golf courses are just some of the interesting POI's to explore within the coverage area. With an exciting approach over Cannery Row and downtown Monterey (not to mention the steeply sloped short finals over the Navy Golf Course), the airport is home to a wide variety of airliner and GA traffic, being served by American Eagle, United Express, Alaskan (Horizon) and Allegiant Air to destinations around the Western US. The majority of the airport, however, is devoted to several large corporate FBOs - there is clearly a huge amount of wealth attracted to the area, as there is no limit to the busy business jet traffic at KMRY. The airport is carved into the side of a hill, so you will note that the terrain drops away quickly at each end of the runway; this also provides for some interesting airside architecture, with the multi-level terminal and control tower set at different elevations to the apron. This is the first of a few ORBX Aerofly airport projects currently in the works; I chose Monterey to start with given it's central location within the Aerofly world, the beautiful location (which makes the most of the advantages of the new AFS2 terrain engine), and it's size - the perfect airport to explore using any aircraft in the AFS2 fleet. FTX MONTEREY REGIONAL AIRPORT for AEROFLY FS2 FEATURES: - Highly-detailed rendition of KMRY airport - Incredible ground textures at 30/60cm - Ultra HD mesh at 5m resolution - Amazing sloped runway – 30m difference! - Ultra-crisp terrain textures. Defined mountains, roads and rivers all the way to the horizon, no more blurries. - Entire city of Monterey and surrounds - Incredible performance on even mid-range systems - far superior to FSX/P3D - Amazing Virtual Reality integration: optimised for performance and smoothness, best-in-class. - Extreme high-density vegetation and building cultivation - Animated PeopleFlow2 technology - Volumetric grass - 3D night lighting for the entire city - Unique static aircraft and vehicles created specifically for Monterey - Over 20 custom POI around the city - Well-known icons such as Cannery Row, Fisherman’s Wharf, Laguna Seca and more! COVERAGE AREA & SLOPED RUNWAY Lastly, it is important to note that these screenshots are work in progress, and there may be minor changes before the final version, though they should convey a good idea of where the development cycle is at. Also, this is exactly how the sim looks out-of-the-box! No tweaks, no edits, no display cfg changes, the only third-party addon is the Learjet 35 repaint (yes, those beautiful aircraft are default) - just FTX Monterey and AeroFly FS2, that's it! More details to come, in the meantime, enjoy!
  7. Is there a visual map somewhere on the Orbx website that shows specifically where the NA Northern/Southern California products cover? I live in Fresno and want Fresno coverage which I understand is part of the Northern package, but I also want Kings Canyon and Sequoia Natl. Park included as well as Yosemite. Would I have to buy both North & South packages to get all that? A visual guide showing boundaries would be really helpful. Thanks.
  8. Welcome to KAVX Catalina Airport, the Airport in the Sky! This project forms the 4th experience package created by Tim Harris and Ken Hall, following up after the highly popular South Pacific based Papua New Guinea and Samoan experience packages of AYPY, NSTU and TAP, we finally arrive in the United States of America to develop the world famous island of Santa Catalina, and the Airport in the Sky Features: Entire island of Santa Catalina HD rendition of KAVX Catalina Airport HD rendition of Pebbly Beach heliport and Wrigley Marine Science center helipad Beautiful crisp 7cm and 30cm photoreal Sharp accurate 5m terrain mesh that combines with the photoreal to show off all the terrain features perfectly Pristine autogen all lovingly hand-annotated...tree by tree covering the entire island! The city of Avalon modeled in great detail, including the Catalina Casino, The Green Pier, Tuna club, yacht club, Antonio's Pizza and Caberet and many other well known buildings Countless piers, docks and harbors located all around the island to moor up a boat or seaplane Stand alone product - only requires the Orbx libraries Coming very very soon, so prepare your favorite aircraft, seaplane, boat, ship, car (or even hiking boots!) and get ready to get out there and experience Catalina Island in true Orbx style!!! A map the island And a sample of just some of the little hidden treasures scattered around the island
  9. Hey, Yesterday I purchased both Northern and Southern California from the ORBX website. I have several regions bought and I never had any problems with them. As you can see from the photos, some hangars are black. Is there any known solution to this? Transaction IDs are 585d78e659699 and 585d78e659699. Thanks, Francisco
  10. Will enhanced airports from regions and freeware show up if I choose to use photoreal scenery in, say, the california desert? Possible with proper stacking in scenery library? Thanks friends!
  11. We flew south from Pines Air Park (8CA5) and saw not one building in the city of Murrieta, CA. How come? This city measures 18 miles by 10 miles so one would expect it to show up in this upgraded FSX scenery.
  12. G'day everyone, Thank you all for the massive response to the first preview shots of Palm Springs - I'm very excited about this project and am looking forward to sharing it with you all soon Whilst our team is busily testing the latest updates behind the scenes, I thought I would take the opportunity to look a little more in-depth at some of the aspects of this expansive package. 1. Special Points of Interest: First up, I'd like to draw attention to three special points of interest; The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, the Animated AI Helicopter and the Animated Train. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway was a ground-breaking feat of engineering when it was built in the early 1960s', and has been upgraded several times since then. Rather than being just a POI, the Tramway offers helicopter pilots some very difficult landing opportunities - each of the five support towers along the route have helipads on top. With almost 6000ft elevation difference between the two stations, this is a dramatic and beautiful area to explore. The Animated AI helicopter offers a unique flying hazard - during the two drive-time peak hours of the day this Bell Jetranger can be spotted over central Palm Springs reporting on the traffic conditions of many arterial roads. The route is unique and takes approx 16-20 mins to complete, so be sure to try your luck chasing this aircraft down (it's much harder than you'd think!). Lastly, the animated train was a special request from friend, particularly following on from the static train I included at Redding. The train runs a route parallel to the I-10 roughly adjacent to Desert Hot Springs. [media]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUVFkyk8eXg&feature=youtu.be 2. General Points of Interest Given the enormous coverage area, there are literally dozens of landmarks to explore around the city and valley area. Aside from those mentioned above, check out my first preview shots for a shortlist of some of the highlights. Of particular interest to me are some of the wonderful examples of Mid-Century Modern architecture, including some famous landmarks in their own right. Already previewed was the Palm Springs City Hall, below are a couple more of note. 3. Custom Vegetation Autogen Classes Whilst nothing particularly ground-breaking in it's own right, I (along with another unnamed developer working on a similar task for his own project) created fourteen new tree types exclusively for use at at Palm Springs. The shot below is a good example of these types in action - of note are the quintessential California Fans lining many of the avenues and streets of Palm Springs. A big advantage of making these types from scratch was the ability to consolidate materials as much as possible - something pioneered with the New Zealand regions - which in turn helps enormously with performance. 4. Control Panel Options Much like what was developed for Monterey, there are many customization options for users to get the most out of their Palm Springs Experience. Beta testing feedback so far has indicated great performance figures, however for those with more modest systems there are plenty of options to select to get the best performance. In addition to these, several other noteworthy options include the ability to select runway lighting intensity (as seen at KMRY), select hazard lights as night-only or visible at all times, and the ability to switch off customized animations. Lastly, for those that prefer AI-only aircraft, all statics at the airport can be disabled by type; Airliner, Charter Operators (Allegiant 757, Air Canada E-170), Corporate and GA. 5. Outdoor Terminal Now BOB-Compatible! JV has mentioned several times in the past his enjoyment of walking around and exploring a scenery by foot - the catalyst for the original incarnation of our freeware BOB product. Building on this, all outdoor levels of the airport (including the elevated concourse) are fully explorable with BOB. This also includes the pedestrian bridge over the sunken baggage-truck underpass - you can walk both over and under this section! 6. NA GA AI Freeware full compatibility Palm Springs ships with a customized APX and AI traffic file to enable plenty of traffic to fly into and out of the airport. If you have the latest version of our NA AI pack installed, you will automatically see plenty of bizjet and GA aircraft using both runways in parralel operations. It should be noted that a different method was used to make the parralel runway operations possible compared to KMRY - therefore users experiencing some clashes with KMRY will not have the same problems at KPSP. Likewise, I have ensured the airport uses the default FSX altitude, purely so that there are no clashes in multiplayer sessions (a known limitation of the FSX/P3D2 scenery engine) Lastly, I have included some screenshots of areas requested by you guys in the previous thread - highlights from the Museum, some night lighting, the famous golfers (on a weekender from Monterey), a couple of the other casinos and hotels, the regional terminal, and a few others. Please enjoy
  13. G'day everyone, I am very excited to announce my latest project to you all, KPSP PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT for FTX Global. Given this is my tenth product with ORBX, I wanted to celebrate by adding something a little extra for this scenery; the result is something a bit bigger than usual So as well as the airport, I have included an enormous coverage area encapsulating a fair portion of the Coachella Valley (including the cities of Palm Springs, Indian Wells, Palm Desert, Desert Hot Springs, Thousand Palms, Rancho Mirage and Cathedral City), San Jacinto Mountains, San Gorgonio Pass, portions of the San Bernadino Mountains and even a sliver of Joshua Tree National Park. This area is fully rendered with hand-placed agn buildings, entirely new custom autogen vegetation classes unique to Palm Springs, custom mesh, and dozens of points of interest to explore. Aside from KPSP, there are other locations to fly to - "lite" versions of Banning Municipal and Bermuda Dunes airports are included, as well as a representation of Palm Springs Hospital, and finally some very special (and difficult) helipads located along the Aerial Tramway route up to San Jacinto Peak (10,834ft). From the lush golf course resorts of Palm Springs (over 50 within the coverage area alone!) to the harsh desert of the Valley floor, to the high-altitude alpine wonderland of San Jacinto, there is an enormous amount to explore within this scenery. Palm Springs is a resort city situated 100 miles east of Los Angeles, in the heart of the Coachella Valley. It came to prominence in the 1950's as a luxury get-away for the Hollywood elite - as a result of the money flowing in at this time, the area is home to some of the finest examples of Modernist architecture anywhere in the world. Famous as the getaway for celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Elvis Presley and even the odd US President, Palm Springs has retained it's reputation for being a retreat for millions of visitors a year. For those not familiar with the area, the city is located in a dramatically beautiful location - the center of downtown is located at the foot of one of the most topographically prominent mountains in the United States. KPSP itself is an International Airport located a couple of miles from downtown Palm Springs, and hosts fourteen airlines serving destinations across the continental US, Canada and Mexico. The unique airport terminal is a combination of mid-century Modernist architecture (main building) and open-air planning (Sonny Bono concourse). This makes for a wonderfully unique setting for your airliner flights - park alongside an open-air waiting area including retail shops, children's playground and sculpted parkland. Aside from the terminal, there is plenty else to see at the airport, too. Explore the Palm Springs Aviation Museum (which I can personally recommend to anyone in the area), with it's vast array of outdoor airside and non-airside exhibits. As well as this, check out the new control tower, the work going on at the Skywest maintenance facility, and finally hang out with the rich and famous at the several FBO's. I have tried to capture the sophisticated atmosphere and desert climate at Palm Springs by spending a large amount of time on the "small details", whilst still aiming to capture the big-picture feel of the location. As always, I also spent a huge portion of the development process tweaking the scenery for maximum performance, in expectation that it will be used with your favorite resource-heavy airliner or bizjet. I have included some brand-new development techniques to get the very best performance out of this scenery (which I will embellish on later), I hope these screenshots provide a good idea of what to expect - stay tuned for more updates in the coming week. FEATURES - Ultra-detailed rendition of KPSP Palm Springs International Airport - Enormous coverage area at 30cm and 1m coverage - over 70km from one end of the coverage area to the other! - Brand new custom autogen vegetation classes unique to Palm Springs - Numerous new static aircraft unique to KPSP - all controllable via the CP and sorted by type (Airliner/Airline Charter/Corporate/GA) - Advanced rendering, ambient occlusion and unique night-lighting methods used for maximum realism - Highly detailed APX file to allow unique parallel runway operations at the airport. - Custom landclass, vector data, custom seasons file and 10m Holgermesh to ensure maximum fidelity. - Many VFR landmarks included in the coverage area; shopping centers, schools, sports grounds and many others - Full suite of ObjectFlow, PeopleFlow2, TextureFlow and more included - Designed to blend seamlessly with FTX GLOBAL (Base) in both P3Dv2 and FSX/P3Dv1.4. LANDING AREAS - Palm Springs Aerial Tramway - the five support towers on this 6000ft tramway all have helipads - originally as aids during construction (built in the 60's with the help of Bell 47s), now used for maintenance. Very difficult due to small size, particularly the higher towers (close to 8000ft altitude) on a hot day. - Banning Municipal Airport (KBNG) and Bermuda Dunes Airport (KUDD) - both are on the edges of the coverage area, so I included a "lite plus" version of each. 1m lower-res ground texture, hand placed autogen, custom APX and ORBXlibs objects. - Palm Springs Hospital LANDMARKS and SPECIAL FEATURES - San Gorgonio Pass Wind Farms - 3000+ wind turbines just north of the airport. - Palm Springs Aerial Tramway - the main tourist trap in Palm Springs, takes visitors from the valley floor to (almost) the top of San Jacinto Peak. - Animated AI helicopter - reporting on road traffic, follows many of the arterial roads to the west of the airport. - Animated train - by special request (@Jon M!) - Airport Fire Services - training sessions with EMB-120 frame can be seen several times a day. - Downtown Palm Springs - many many hotels and shopping malls are modeled. - Golf Course Resorts - there are over 50 golf courses in the coverage area, many of which have fancy resorts attached. Largest of which is the Marriott Desert Springs, keep an eye out for it. - Indian Wells Tennis Center - at the southern border of the coverage area.- Bob Hope's House - a very famous piece of architecture nestled on a ridge close to the airport. Available for sale in real life - any takers?- Wet n Wild Water Park - on short finals to KPSP- Palm Springs City Hall - a gorgeous piece of 50's Modernism, located across the road from the airport. - Bank of America building, Tramway Gas Station (Visitor's Center) and Kaufmann Desert House - three more of my favourite pieces of Modernist architecture.- Cabazon Dinosaurs - highway rest-stop kitsch at it's best. North of Morongo Casino. As well as these, keep an out for the dozens of custom and semi-custom buildings in the coverage area - Casinos, Resorts, schools and other buildings. COVERAGE AIRPORT EXTENDED SCENERY AREA Cheers,Jarrad
  14. I'm sure these will be the first of many. It takes a lot to tempt me out of my glorious FTX comfort zone of NZNI/NZSI, but my arm was twisted by a generous birthday gift from BobL (!). What can I say? ORBX have really pulled out the stops with this one. It's been a while since I installed a new ORBX area on my system, so maybe I've missed a few improvements along the way. Things really have moved on! What impresses me the most aren't the obvious landmarks etc., but the overall attention to detail in ALL the textures - from stony/rocky areas to various types of ploughed fields and coastal water types. There seems to be a greater variety of building objects too, so the urban areas look very varied - and not the usual "autogen carpet". I shudder to think of all the man-hours that go into a project like this, but my word - it's worth it. It's a joy to look at. This is a *very* short trip around the Bay - just to say a big "thank you" to Bob - and to everyone that contributed in any way to NA Gold - California. Early morning on a fairly grey day, so the colours are a little muted. No artificial enhancements of any kind - either in FSX or post-production. FSX/DX10. Look at the coastline blend between sea and land (below) ... beautiful! Bob had his own personal NZ registered C172 ferried over to California just for the occasion! Adam.
  15. The topic title above was located in the April 2014 Roadmap and specifically under 2015. Can I ask someone here at ORBX-FTX: Does FTX West Coast refer to the continuation and completion of California? Now we have NCA, I was looking forward to seeing the entire state completed by FTX (hence the reason for my question). Thanks in advance!
  16. I have to admit that I have been scouring these forums every morning when I get up to see if there is any news on the upcoming release of Northern California. Any updates would be most appreciated! I live in San Francisco but I am from Vancouver and I often fly back and forth. For those of you who have never visited Northern California (we call it "NorCal" vs "SoCal") it really is a beautiful area to see from the sky. There is the obvious San Francisco with the Golden Gate Bridge but other areas such as Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley and the coastal towns such as Monterey and Eureka. I saw someone where the release is a little late so we might have to wait a few more weeks. GIve me any updates about this one!
  17. Just decided to max out FSX and it's features! I cant wait until NCA will be released my videos will look even better! Enjoy this full approach into San Francisco!
  18. Hey guys, yesterday (April 3) I went on a little day trip over to Santa Catalina Island, which is one of the California Channel Islands. I brought along my video camera, and here you can see the approach and landing; later, I will post the takeoff and departure. The airport serves the town on the island called Avalon, California. This airport, known as Catalina Airport, is known also as the 'Airport in the Sky' because it it situated on a plateau on one of the highest points on the island, and it is a very majestic and beautiful approach, and island all together. I'd like to see Orbx make this when SoCal comes along, too. Enjoy! [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oKjztBNvwQ&hd=1
