  1. Via the latest added goodie of ferries, terminals and other shipping to the PNW area, life is even come more to realisme. Thanks to 'Larry_R' upgraded scenery project, flying is become more interactive with these nautical extra features. My first flight in a Goose-flyboat is over Nanaimo - CAC8 and a sea-landing nearby a large freighter:
  2. Thank you, Orbx for incredible TrueEarth HD platform for X-Plane!!! Best sim for me now.
  3. Hi there. I'm new to flight sims and have purchased the OrbX Pacific Northwest package and am trying to get it working in P3D v 4.5. I installed it using OrbX central and it seems to show up in the 'scenery options' in the main p3d screen but I'm not seeing the photorealistic (or even particularly nice) landscapes etc. I read through the installation guide and changed my settings (I think) to the recommended ones but no joy. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but for the life of me can't figure out what. Any help would be appreciated. Image of the landscape around the Seattle area attached just to show you what I'm seeing.
  4. While working from home I'm able to do some flying on a 3rd computer monitor. As my main focus is on work (on my other 2 monitors), I mainly stick to crusing along coasts to keep navigation easy. Took off from Sekiu in NW Washington state, flew NW, around the tip, then headed south along the coast. Ozette Lake is off to the left... P3Dv4.5 A2A T-6 Texan
  5. All my ORBX products work perfectly, EXCEPT Pacific Northwest north of Seattle. The textures become very blurry when making even a short flight. This occurs nowhere else in my ORBX world I own many of the PNW airports north of Seattle and wonder if too many scenery add-ons are too much for my high-end Jetline Systems rig. Very frustrating Any suggestions?
  6. a visit over Nanaimo, as one of the several freeware made seabases for Orbx-PNW and at the end landing in front of the city of Nanaimo in a yellow Quest Kodiak:
  7. Yesterday I did this same flight on XP11. Tried it today on P3D to feel the pros and cons. After the flight, my first impressions are: 1) The airports are very much the same at either platform, all very beautiful and detailed. 2) I feel that TE Washington is light-years ahead from PNW/P3D. The difference between both is stunning. Even though I love ORBX PNW/P3D, IMO TE Washington provides the most realistic views I have ever seen. 3) For me, in P3D the weather representation is still better than in XP11 (including seasons, rain, snow and better turbulence effects) - this has nothing to do with ORBX. My conclusions: - It is a pleasure to fly across this region in both platforms, each sim has its weaknesses and strengths. - TE Washington is the most stunning product I have seen in years. Well done ORBX! - XP11 or P3D? For me, both!!!!
  8. Inspired by the recent excellent post from our colleague @carlosqr, I decided to also go back to the lovely Walter Sutton airfield. I agree with him - it is really a quite special place to fly!
  9. Haven't flown the Comanche in quite some time, so I changed the oil and had a go. Hell, even landed her without floating down 3/4 of the runway.
  10. Been away for a little bit, and was longing for some old-fashioned PNW beauty. Mission accomplished.
  11. Seattle–Tacoma International Airport looks very strange in my Pacific Northwest scenery (PNW). It seems like it´s not properly flattened. I´ve looked at other airports, but so far this is the only airport affected. Order number of purchase: 5c6531b8e8679 5c6531b8e8679 Best regards Jan Helge Rambjør
  12. As many of you know, I live a stone's throw from Tacoma Narrows Airport (KTIW). Well, there are a couple of guys that have one of the larger hangars, and they also own a killer collection of aircraft, It's called the Point Fosdick Antique Airplane Hangar...check it out HERE. My favorite plane in their collection is the Waco YMF-5. So I drug the Alabeo version out of the back of the virtual hangar, and took her on a short hop over to Vashon Island. Enjoy! ...and here's the real deal:
  13. A cold trek from Tacoma Narrows (KTIW) to Orcas Island (KORS). KTIW is a stone's throw from Casa Del Chunk, and I hope ORBX will give it the full airport treatment one day. In the A2A V-Tail, and I used the RNAV 34 approach with the help of the GTN 750. Enjoy!
  14. Part 2 - From Rogue Valley International - Medford Airport (KMFR) to Tacoma Narrows (KTIW) Holding short at the KMFR active. It's going to be an IFR day. Up at 6500', and out of the muck. However, the turbulence is going to make me lose the chicken fried steak from this morning... And up to 9500', above a blanket of white, and no bumping around. There are a few breaks in the clouds as we head north through Oregon. The sun, the moon, and the star of the show. It finally clears up a little, and we're directly over downtown Portland. The Columbia River in all of its majesty. There's a sight I'll never tire of looking at, Mt. Rainier. And you can barely make out Mt. St. Helens, covered in clouds. Descending back into the muck. I'll check in on the other side. Out of it and headed towards Vashon Island. There's Gig Harbor. I think I can see my house from here. The Port of Tacoma off to our left. On final at KTIW. Finally parked and chocked up. Time for a beer, or four or five, at the Hub airport restaurant. Thanks for flying along with me!
  15. Added the Vertx Diamond DA62 to the hangar, and wanted a decent cross-country flight to break her in. Decided to pay @Rodger Pettichord a visit at Felts Field. The weather was not ideal in Gig Harbor, broke out of the clouds while en route, then got socked in real good at Felts. I think this aircraft is fantastic, but I have got to learn the G1000 or it's not going to be an aircraft I'll use all too often. It's much easier to dial up a flightplan with the GTN750 in my V-Tail. Sitting at KTIW (Tacoma-Narrows Airport). Wheels up, and man is it cloudy! She's a real beauty inside, and that G1000 can do more than this pilot can throw at it. Some clearing as we climb towards 14,500 feet. Now we're on top of it, and Mt. Rainier is poking her head up through the clouds. This aircraft is really drop dead gorgeous! Those clouds are blanketing the western part of Washington. Hello there moon. It starts to break up as we get east of the Cascades. ORBX really nailed it with the PNW region. Look at those lines...Rodger is so gonna want a ride in this thing. Very short final after breaking through the low clouds. I can't get enough of the art deco styling of this airport. Alright Rodger, Border Patrol said we have Carte Blanche to do whatever we please.
  16. Hello Captains! I recently updated Vectors, and since then I get a CTD whenever I try to load anywhere west of Denver. Anyone have the same issue?
  17. I decided to take the lovely 310 up for a flight where I depart FHR and "slowly" make my way towards Skagit KBVS. The scenery you see here is all freeware. It's primarily HD Mesh v4. The clouds/skies are a mod but free (honestly can't remember what I run these days ha). The 310 is indeed payware from Milviz and includes the always excellent Reality XP GTN 750 and 650. This is also likely one of my LAST screenshot posts as I'll be transferring (finally) to a different city and we'll be in temp housing for quite some time (without my pc). I will continue to monitor this forum and probably post a little too... Also feel free to continue to PM and or email me to keep in touch. I'm a bit bummed as there are many many wonderful addons coming out for both P3D and XP11, and I won't be able to partake! Anyway the pics... 18. Of course this aircraft is right up my alley... so here's a flight from Port Angeles KCLM to Quillayute KUIL. Leaving CLM was mostly lower-ish vis (but still VFR) and I climbed to 16,500 to top the weather... but also had troubles finding holes on the way down to maintain VFR. I would have rather shot an approach but UIL does not have one. This thing has very well done systems including SVS in the G1000 - it's freaking amazing! 19. Some various shots from around the PNW, SAK and Norway. Departing Oslo in some miserable weather. Approaching KESE Eagle County Regional. High above KASE. High altitude visibility flying from PAVD to PAJN. Petersburg Harbor, Tongass Fjords.
