  1. High mountains and low cloud didn't leave much room for a flight from L35 Big Bear to L22 Yucca Valley CA. Quite a long take off run for the Cessna 120 with the high altitude of this airport. Crossing Nelson Ridge with just enough clear air to fly in. In the Morongo Basin is the town of Yucca Valley and it's L22 airport.
  2. So I have been unable to install my JF DC-6 into P3D. 1. I installed FSX yesterday, a good reason to splash out on AUS V2 as well. Over Mildura and what an improvement. Directly in front of the nose is where Iived for 3 years at Cowra Avenue although the road does extend to the railway track to the bottom of the screen but let's not be too picky, eh! 2. What an improvement to YMIA, excellent stuff. Lake Hawthorne and the Murray are above the DC-6. I installed the DC-6 into FSX as it wouldn't install on my dummy FSX file to fool P3D like so many other planes have successfully done! 3. I copied the obvious files from FSX and into the dummy FSX file and then went through picking out effects files which when I tried to copy over into P3D were already there! Started up P3D, loaded a flight and there it is, YES! 4. Flying out of Felts and all appears to be going well. I have installed the TW soundset which I know is the wrong engine but it sounds good. I do have an R2800 so I will put that in at a later date. Now onto the Beaver which previously refused to recognise FSX.
  3. The Aerosoft Beaver was the very first payware plane I brought ages ago. Like the DC-6 I have now been successful to get it working in P3D and it now has a beautiful purring R985 Wasp Junior engine installed too. These images are from Anchorage AK. 1. A short test flight from Birchwood to Merrill in downtown Anchorage. Under the Beaver is Buttress Park along with the railway depot(station). Coming into land at Merrill Field. 2. Taking a closer look at Ship Creek and The Bridge. 3. The bridge visible in the first image carries N A Street over Ship Creek! 4. The same view as the RL image along West Ship Creek Avenue outside the Ulu Knife Factory.
  4. A very scenic flight from CYSE Squamish to CYBL Campbell River both in BC. Coming into land at CYBL and flying over CAE3 Campbell River SPB.
  5. After failing to get to Tofino BC the other day this time I am successful. Not far to go and approaching Hecate Mountain along with Mount Halliday on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
  6. On the way from Victoria to Vancouver BC. 1. Saturna Island, one of the Southern Gulf Islands BC. Beyond is the Strait of Georgia and mainland BC although flying in a straight line US waters are passed over for about 5 miles. Looking south at South and North Pender Islands, south of which is the Canadian border with the US.
  7. Chichagof Island was named after the Russian Arctic explorer Admiral Vasili Chichagov who never actually visited Alsaka. 1. 2. 3. It has the highest concentration of Bears per square mile anywhere on the planet.
  8. 1. At the entrance to Prince William Sound is Cape Hinchinbrook. It is at the southwest end of Hinchinbrook Island AK. 2. Hinchinbrook Island, with an area of 178 sq miles, is the 37th largest island in the US and has a population of five! 3. The original lighthouse was built in 1910. 4. Following a series of earthquakes in 1927 and 28 the land was considered unstable so the present 20 metre structure was completed in 1934. It was fully automated in 1974.
  9. The Constellation speaks for itself.
  10. I will try again! I had just set out from Victoria BC, to fly up to Tofino on Vancouver Island's west coast when I had a rare pfffffft moment with P3D. I think I know the culprit.
  11. Another newly found plane and another flight out of Anchorage AK. Heading for Valdez and at the entrance to College Fjord. Rounding South Esther Island to cruise up College Fjord.
  12. Following the Fraser River where it is joined by the Pitt River with Vancouver in the distance. 1.
  13. The North Star was made up of parts from the DC-4, DC-6 and C-54 as well as having Merlin engines. About to depart from Gustavus PAGS, AK.
  14. I left the Merc in the car park at Port Hardy and now flying the Mallard in the murk up the coast of Vancouver Island BC.
  15. At the southern end of Waikiki, Oahu, is Diamond Head. 1. You can walk or get one of the Green Line Hop on Hop off buses which will take you to the crater after passing through the tunnel. 2. Then you have the trail up to several vantage points, and the view is well worth the climb!
  16. Tahku, The Whale Project is the life size bronze statue of a breaching whale incorporating water effects. It commemorates the 50th anniversary of Alaska becoming a state. It was finally completed in May 2018 with the installation of the fountains. 1. The statue is situated directly to the right of the Otter's nose on the foreshore. 2. A beautiful and very impressive sight, one of the must sees when visiting Juneau. A nice POI to consider for an update to the scenery!
  17. Not far from PHDH Dillingham on the island of Oah'u is Haleiwa Beach 1. 2. A very popular spot for the locals to swim and have a bbq. 3. The Wai'anae Range can be seen as we pass the town of Pupukea 4. One of the local turtles out for a swim.
  18. The United States Penitentiary at Victorville CA. 1. It was opened in 2004 and is built on land that was part of the George AFB. 2. It houses 1400 high security prisoners. No RL images this time either outside and especially inside! I didn't travel here either which is another reason!
  19. 1. Taking off from 8CA0 close to Victorville and under the shadow of Quartzite Mountain. 2. I wonder what culinary delight is cooking in the Webber!
  20. I am flying down to Las Vegas from Lake Tahoe but the scenery doesn't look correct. Approaching Bald Mountain which has an elevation of 9549ft. Then the penny dropped, I did the flight plan too far to the east and the flight is over OLC and not SCA!
  21. 1. Climbing out of Kingman KIGM and approaching the Hualapai Mountains. The border of SCA and OLC NA is clearly defined. 2. Motoring along Interstate 40 with the Hualapai Mountains and one of the outer suburbs in eastern Kingman.
  22. Cape St James is the most southerly point of Haida Gwaii BC. 1. At the entrance to Hunger Harbour with Mount Moody. 2. Numerous whale spouts but mostly in the distance. I am thankful for my EOS5 and 100-400mm lens! 3. Cape St James home of the World's largest colony of Steller Sealions as well as numerous Puffins. Too far away for my camera to pick them up! 4. Approaching Cape St James and Haida Gwaii. The leeward side of the island flattened the sea out from the slightly choppy waters of the morning although it hadn't caused any "motion of the ocean" to be felt on the ship.
  23. Just passing The Hoover Dam and now following US 93. Driving along the US93 and just crossed over the Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge into Arizona and heading for Flagstaff
  24. I haven't flown Ol' Big Head for a while and even longer since I went to South America. 1. Colombia to be exact. Here crossing the Farallones de Cali, from Cali, starting the descent to SKBU Gerardo Tobar Lopez Airport which you all know serves the town of Buenaventura.
