  17. I can remember getting my first aircraft recognition book in 1960 and being puzzled by the names of some of the American helicopters. Chinook, Choctaw and Chickasaw, very strange names to a 6 year old living close to London. Now I know they are names of Native Americans. Something made me look tonight for the Westland Whirlwind in Flightsim.com site to see if there was any freeware available and the search came up with the Alphasim CH-19 Chickasaw.   18. I have only flown in one helicopter in my lifetime and despite only being 4 years old I can remember some of that 8 minute ride across New York. 1. Taking off from Idlewild as it was then.   21. Do a lot of reading on the BBC News site of late and read last night about the sudden decline in tourism in Turkey. This inspired me to have a flight there. Not knowing much about the country I looked on Google Earth and picked out the Mediterranean coast. Was I pleasantly surprised. 1.   23. Took the DHC-3 Float plane for a flight from Angoon SPB to Juneau. 1. Beautiful calm waters at ANG SPB. 2. Taking off from Kootznahoo Roads. 3.   24. NOOOO, not that Norton Sound although is does sound how a motor bike should. No. THIS Norton Sound, in Alaska. Just visiting another of the wonderful Global Freeware airports, this time it is PAKK, Koyuk. 1. Starting up the magnificent CL-215. 2. PAKK sits at the head of Norton Inlet. 3. Norton Sound is an inlet of the Bering Sea. 4. James Cook discovered the area in 1778 and named it after the then Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Fletcher Norton. 5. The Yukon River flows into the southern part of Norton Bay.
  25. The above Bex was used to get rid of a headache years ago. 1. Flew into PAKT in the Otter and parked it in 3 locations and saved the flights. 2. I did this so when I fly from PAKT in the future I can start at locations other than the runways. 3. Flew out in this beautiful Alaskan which carries this very smart 75th anniversary livery. 4. The 738 was paused for about 1 hour at the gate while I had dinner and did a few other things. 5. So here we are climbing out of PAKT on an unusually clear day for this part of the world. 6
