  3. Evening all, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about a large red and black area of terrain. Only appears for me between Corby, Kettering and Thrapston in the UK. I don't think it's an addon airfield as I have tried turning various bits off and on, no joy! Any ideas? Matt
  4. Some shots from my FSX DX9 system here. Some fun with the Prototype style Mk Ia Spit, Goodwood to Popham with some nice passes before landing. The Spit is really nice, a pleasure to fly. And easy to get it in and out of those small grass fields. It never really looks good when I try operating the Mustang out of Popham.
  5. Took the Connie for the next trip, Bristol to Newcastle, flying Northeast cross country and than heading north along the coast. VOR navigation works quite well now, even though I didn´t get directions for one station. Went for a VOR-DME approach instead of the ILS and was quite happy with the approach. Weather started nice, but somewhere over Coventry I had to fly through a thunderstorm, nice experience, air was calm enough. Weather calmed further away and I could enjoy the sun settling behind the horizon while making the descend into a well iluminated Newcastle. Touched down nicely even with
  6. Decided to finally test the freeware DC-3 and boy, what did I miss. Not a fast mover by any means, but the interactive checklists are great and the startup is fun. Just over 2 1/2 years later the Government withdrew it's financial backing and Beagle Aircraft went under despite having over 200 on order.. Also had some tough weather, selected one of the ORBx weather sets and lowered the visibilty a bit.   9. ...........is a plane you all would be familiar with, the Armstrong Whitworth AW.52 1. Boscombe Down. In the mid 40s the concept of a flying wing was proposed by Armstrong Whitworth. 2. Right is the The Isle of Wight and below is Highcliffe. A contract for a wooden glider and 2 powered mail carrying prototypes was awarded. 3. Poole Harbour.   10. Here is the Armstrong Whitworth Whitley. One of the 3 twin engine bombers that was the backbone of Bomber Command when war broke out in 1939. Almost obsolete in 1939 it was the only one of the 3 that was designed as a night bomber. Eventually powered by Merlins the Whitley continued in the front line until the arrival of the 4 engine heavies. It was then used for various other roles until the end of the war. 1.   12. My quest for old, mainly British aircraft continues. I found the Defiant the other day and Andy reminded me of the Fairey Battle. Only in FS9, but a bit of jiggling and hey presto! 1. Flying down the Humber Estuary past the Humber Bridge, once the longest suspension bridge in the world. 3. The power station and chemical works at Salt End. 4.   21. Decided to go for a drive in the car I would buy if I ever won millions in the lottery. What I am trying to do is find my last house in the UK before I came to Australia. As my luck would have it , it is just off the edge of the EGHI scenery area. So much change in the last 36 years. 1.   22. One of my favourite planes is Virtualcol's Dash8 and today I decided to upgrade the sound with Skysong Soundworks PW 100. Just a few pics from an early morning take off from Plymouth to test out the new engines. 1. 2. 3. The Dash8 now sounds better, F-50 and ATRs to follow with better sounding engines.
