  1. Its been over a year since I've switched out of the Oceania region in FTX Central, so for a change of pace today, I revisited the Pacific North West for a bit of a trip down memory lane. My planned flight was from Port Hardy on the northern tip of Vancouver Island, down to Tofino for a touch and go, then over the mountains to Orcas Island to make a full stop. It took me a good ten minutes of scrolling through my virtual hanger before setting on the old Push-Pull C337 as my steed of choice- an addon I'd flown countless hours on when it was originally released and a platform that I congifure easily to make the most of viewing the scenery. I also remember how excited I was to explore the PNW area when it was new, being the top of its class in the flightsim world. Funny how both packages have now been superseded by products with greater coverage and complexity, yet its the revisiting of these first generation type addons that seem to yield the most satisfaction for me! Unfortunately FSX crashed with a gd3.dll error on approach into KORS. I'll have to go to some system tweaking before exploring the area further. If anyone has some suggestions of other interesting airfields or particularly scenic areas within the PNW coverage zone, I'd love to hear them. As a Kiwi simmer, my knowledge of the area is next to nil! Cheers
  2. Getting a bit of IFR practice in the C337 Skymaster. . .

Thought I'd take advantage of the realtively clear weather today and do a bit of IFR (I follow roads) from Stapleford to Goodwood via the M25 and M23 Departing EGSG RWY 22R Turning east to intersect the M25 just north of the airlield Passing Harold Hill... Following the M25 south Approaching Junction 30 on the M25 (A13 intersection) The cloud base is pretty low today at about 2,100 EGHR sighted, entering left downwind RWY 14R Final RWY 14R
  4. Hi guys, I did a small flight this morning. Because of the bad weather here I decided to get some summer and flew in Australia. What a pleasure to see some green and sun Start at Bundaberg Some contrast And finally departing at Hervey Bay.

I felt it was time to pay my first Orbx-airport a visit again - so takeoff from Gympie Circling for an overview of this nice little strip Passing Noosa Heads Caloundra Bribie under my wings Coming around to take a look at the museum from above Caloundra in the foreground, Bribie Island in the background - and the Glasshouse Mountains on the horizon Sharp right YCDR Then the surprise - I was asked if I wouldn't want to park the 337 among the exhibits of the museum. Seems they hadn't seen a plane like mine for a while Again - cropped but otherwise v-key-originals Cheers Mallard
  6. So, I nearly got everything installed and set up the way I like it after a FSX reinstall. Today I did a first longer flight to test the stability and if everything looks fine. I use Rex Ess. Plus OD (with an Emmsie theme ), Opus for weather and Shade. There is no Enb or SweetFx installed. I have only Highmemfix and WideScreenAspect, the rest is untweaked. I started at 4 am local time at NZKI (Kaikoura) which is a gem. It is such a lovely place fitted with lots of stuff as a barbeque and other people flow. I headed north following the shoreline, flew into the Marlborough Sounds, catched the 90° radial to the VOR Wellington and arrived at NZWN (Wellington Intl). Soon after take off the sky changed to blue and some fog appeared as you can see here. This is shortly after passing Blenheim. When arriving at Marlborough Sounds there were some low clouds giving those area a spookey view. But those clouds got less giving me a good view on Picton, also a little gem in NZSI. After crossing the sea which was quite boring cause I couldnt see much of NZNI because of clouds I got to where the wind is made I got clearance for right traffic on RW16 and flew into downwind leg. Well, I was a bit low but I wanted to take a closer look at Wellington which is such detailed without influencing my fps. Coming in at NZWN Rw16. After taxiing to the parking areas shutting off and looking forward to a big mug of coffee Well, I felt so small between those tubes. Conclussion: FSX is now working great. I had no stutters for the whole flight and even at Wellignton I had 30 fps which is my limit. It looks great and felt even better I wont touch it for a long time for I dont wanna mess around with shader stuff or whatever. Just enjoying flying
