  1. Back in January a very creative fellow named Roland, over on the Avsim forums, coded a fully functional real-time radar gauge that utilizes 'Active Sky Next's' radar output, the same radar source used in the PMDG 737 and 777. It works absolutely fantastic! I only just found out about it about a week ago and began adding it to the VC's of aircraft that already have a radar unit but only draw clouds, not actual storm data..
  2. ....is the Lord Mayor's Show. Following last weeks debacle with the CLS DC-10 I decided not to buy any more expensive aircraft from dubious sources. Being weak I saw the Captain Sim Boeing 727 and while doing some research on the CS site I came across the 777 which is also P3D compatible. Spent a while looking at reviews and the like and was happy enough to buy it. So installed it and had a quick flight before dinner from Ant's YBBN which is not too FPS heavy. The engines were already running so I pressed a few buttons, flicked a few switches, rolled a few wheels that I know

  4. Last night I finally got the DC-10 into the air for a 15 minute before bed time. Beautiful inside and out I was very happy with it. Today even bigger problems so it has been consigned to the darkest, remotest corner of my hangar, an expensive white elephant for me. I shall try again in the future.   5. A very pleasant surprise yesterday to see no less than 3 airports released with the triple installer. Great to be able to fly from these airports again. Pleasing to see the list of non P3Dv2 airports slowly shrinking. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.

After seeing Karstens beautiful screenies with the DC-10 but seeing in a review that the aircraft was prone to the dreaded OOM I decided to give it a go. 2 attempts to take off from PANC both resulted in an OOM after about 500m along the runway. Over to PAYA and some luck, but too busy taking shots and marvelling at the exterior of this fine plane in flight and a window came up stating "overstressed." End of flight. So over to Valdez to try the cargo version. Now the cockpit is black apart from the instruments. Try a different freight version and the texture is a nice shiny metal. N
  7. Very happy tonight to see FSS has the CLS 747-2/300 for sale. Good to see this aircraft in P3D at last. Also good to see the F-Lite version for us GA fliers but still a lot of buttons and switches to figure out. A short first look departing Cairns. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
  8. I haven't really been trying to avoid Gerold all day so I had better let on to where I have been. 1. An early morning departure from Southampton and passing Eastleigh Station. Lived at Eastleigh until 1981 when I came to Australia. 2. Passing over the M25 about to land at Wisley. The road by the port wing carries on to meet the group of buildings to the right of the aircraft at Downside. My grand parents owned the Cricketers pub there until 1960.   16. Just a over a week ago W28 Sequim Valley was released. A marvellous first scenery from Jordan Gough. I had a few flights from here before I went to Paradise.   17. Not the greatest of screen shots but it is up here to send a dire warning to us pilots. NEVER DO HOUSEWORK WHEN FLYING I am currently off work for the week sick and decided to do a few small housework jobs to help her to be obeyed. I left the venerable Manfred's C-47 on auto pilot and went about my chores. When I came back a few minutes later the cockpit windows had no sky in them! To late to save the situation, I am now sat on the top of a mountain in PNG awaiting rescue! 1.

  21. On Friday night I brought the Alabeo Robinson R66 and took it for a first flight around a fair part of the island of Tutuila. Thanks for the info regarding this great chopper Mike, it is everything you said it was and I am rapt with it. So a not so fine day in this tropical paradise. The R66 is a great way to explore this brilliant piece of scenery. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. A very enjoyable flight with a fairly good landing. For me the R66 is a great addition to my new helicopter hangar.

  23. Great to see KWYS now has a triple installer. A very pleasant and most welcome surprise this morning.   24. Been flying choppers for about 3 weeks now and I am able to have a reasonable flight except for landing. I usually need about I sq km to land in but suddenly it has all come together. Here at Swain's Atoll I have managed to get down in a fairly small(for me anyway) area. The little village is Taulaga. 1. Had to abandon my first attempt, gain control and try again. 2. Watch out for the birds. 3. Over the palms flying into a 20knt wind 4. Almost down you can hear the collective relief in the cockpit. 5. Will have to explore the village sometimes, lucky I brought Bo
