  1. In my earlier post, I referenced the new freeware Destin FL airport [by Shannan Landreth], but I didn't show much of the airport close up. I wanted to correct my omission. Great amount of detail and design at the airport. Shannon did a superb job here. Great place to fly on the panhandle of Florida and the Gulf. KDTS, Destin Executive Airport Destin, FL
  2. Inbound to Hobart - great looking southern Tasmanian city on the bay Outbound from Hobart
  3. Looking for a warm and sunny place to fly this afternoon. Opened up the December 2016 FTX Global North & South America Freeware Pack. Saw that there was a Florida airport! KDTS, Destin Executive Airport. Gem of an airport in a great spot from Shannan Landreth. Nicely done!

  5. I continue to find more realism with openLC NA in my North America travels. I'm amazed at the many details etched into the product. This is Casper Mountain -- shown in the background while recently departing Casper, WY [KCPR]. Here is a photo of Casper Mountain from an access road at the edge of KCPR [copyright 2016, Google Earth] The US Government released a detailed USGS geologic study in 1988 of the mountain. The faceplate of the report shows a photo of the same mountain image. http://pubs.usgs.gov/pp/1460/report.pdf
  6. I can't seem to get EU England working alongside FTX Global in FSX. I've never had any issues with FTX Global, but after installing EU England my textures have become completely confused across all of England. The best way to describe what I mean is with screenshots: After takeoff from runway 07 EGNT Upon reaching the coast the sea appearing as trees: My scenery priority (copied from instructions found online) - everything above what you can see below is just my addon airport scenery. I'm using FTX Central V3. Can anyone advise if they've had the same problem or where I'm going wrong? Thanks
  7. More exploring in openLC NA, this trip is in El Salvador and Honduras. Takeoff is from the older San Salvador Ilopango airport. It seems the VOR equipment is very close to Runway 33. The capital city of San Salvador is large and very detailed The city of San Salvador is home to 1.7 Million people Much of Central America contains vast areas of mountains, dormant volcanoes and jungle landscapes. Flying over the continent to the Honduran east coast and the city of La Ceiba, Honduras. The city has over 200,00 people.
  8. Hi there, I know you react somewhat allergic to issues starting with "too green", but despite all the progress and improvement after installing FTX Global I am somewhat dissapointed by the fact that airports in SW USA start exhibiting underlying green grass textures. One such example is KAEG. In default FSX, the base texture under the airport is desert-like, whereas it appears like an oasis after switching to FTX Global. I saw there is continuing mentioning of this issue all around, but I haven't found any remedy. I have looked extensively through the forum and I only found one case which could be solved by switching to a FTX Freeware airport since it happened to be available. So I would simply like to know whether there is any general way to solve this issue at all, without getting rid of FTX Global. Thanks a lot!
  9. hello, I just downloaded the FTX Global Base package and i noticed that during the daytime the 3D lights appear as blue boxes where the lights should be and say microsoft flight simulator on them. At nightime they also appear as such and are very bright but all are the same color. I downloaded the FTX lights configurator and am still having the same problem. Any help is greately appreciated. bummed i cant enjoy this great product. thanks
  10. Hello, Today did a short flight in FSX from EKCH to EDDF. In flight I saw the following: This does not look normal?! Further on the flight the blend was much better, but this area is horrible Is this a bug?
  11. Typhoon landing in Rio, today at dawn end. Only "V-Key" on FTX Global and AS16 Cheers, Voyager
  12. I recently did a FTX Global update for my FSX Steam Edition and I noticed that when I click on "Fly Now" to load flights, the load time has increased to almost 10 minutes. When it starts to load, it hangs at about 6% loading, which is the loading terrain phase for about 3-4 minutes. Then it progresses to about 92% where it hangs again for 1-2 minutes. I am not certain FTX is the cause, but I think I noticed the long load time after updating the FTX Global. I also have the "boxed" FSX, which I updated the FTX Global to, and there was no negative impact to FSX. Can anyone offer advise and guidance regarding this issue?
  13. Hi. Mount Everest is covered by city textures. Anyone else see this? I run P3D v3.4 with ORBX scenery exclusively. I have all the FTX Global products + North American regions and Norway installed, and 15-20 FTX Airports on top of that.
  14. We have had a little oversight with the release of FTX EU GEN. Nothing serious, we, in our enthusiasm to get it to you have overlooked to disable two airfields in the FTXG_Global Airfields, result you may have trees on two fields, namely EDCP and EDWI, the action to undertake is simple, delete the following files from your system. They can be found at: ...........\ORBX\FTX_GLOBAL\FTX_FTXG_AIRPORTS\Scenery ADE_FTX_FTXG_EDCP.BGL ADE_FTX_FTXG_EDCP_CVX.BGL ADE_FTX_FTXG_EDWI.BGL ADE_FTX_FTXG_EDWI_CVX.BGL the Team will take action, for the moment this is the easiest solution to avoid the issue
  15. i might get myself ftx global but i want the Pacific northwest addon and the north america openLC. can ftx northwest and other north american terrain regions work with ftx global north america openLC? thanks, hr
  16. Hello I am new user of ORBX products and more specifically I installed them for the first time today on P3D V3. I have installed the following products in the following order : 1)ORBX FTX Global v1.40 2)ORBX FTX Global Vector v1.45 3)ORBX FTX Global OpenLC Europe v1.20 There are water tiles all over mainland and of course in locations that have not water at all. I post the following screenshot of Crete island as an example. Is there any specific order in which the orbx products should be placed in the scenery library? I think that the problem is caused by FTX Global OpenLC Europe but I hope for you help and guidance Sincerely Antonis Kosmadakis FSS0512676
  17. Ok, so I just did a flight from KACV Cordova to CYXY Whitehorse with ONLY FTX Global, Openlc NA and FTX Global Vector installed. No other terrain or mesh add-ons. Everything looked great until I approached CYXY Whitehorse where there were all these mini-plateaus dotted around Whitehorse. The one thing they all seem to have in common is that they have a small body of water on top of each one of them. I reckon this is a Vector glitch? They kind of ruin a otherwise very lovely landscape. Just thought I'd report. Cheers!/Andreas
  18. Hi Guys. I know that I have several open topics in the forum, but I was hoping for a bit of clarity here, from the ORBX Devs. You see, in my cockpit, it has been set up for Australian and New Zealand scenery because I predominantly fly those regions. I have bought all of the ORBX products for those two regions, including all the beautiful airports, cityscapes, etc... Visually, I am so spoilt and believe I have one of the best non-commercial sims, visually. However, I am entering into the realms of Worldflight and that opens up a whole new can of worms. I have been studying the Definitive ORBX guide for some weeks and trying to decipher the best way to go about this. I do not want to add unnecessary scenery that I won't be using much, once Worldflight is over, so I have come up with the idea of buying separate SSD drives and keep all my current configuration on those drives and then build a whole new set of ORBX scenery libraries on the new SSD's. I have a caddy system for my three P3D PC's in the sim, so a simple swap seems the best choice. So, I will load all the same stuff on the second drives, P3D, avionics, etc. and then instead of full fat regions, I will install Pilot's FS-Global, FS Global Base, FS Vector. That will give me all my base stuff. Then I will put the Global Alaska and Europe, so that should cover that. Should I also buy and install the upcoming LC stuff, like Europe and North America? And just on the off chance that I need some other (manufacturers) airports to add to the list (Sorry, hope I haven't broken any rules by asking this question), I just make sure they are compatible with Global and vector? I'm just after the best solution here for Global coverage and I realise that Full fat regions will be the better alternative, but when you plan to cover the world in a week, I suspect compromise is the best answer? Thanx for any help, appreciate it. Frank
  19. Hello there! so i have FSX for steam.... and i just went and bought 100$ worth of FTX addons, to make FSX look better. Order Number: FSS0341722 when installing the global base pack, it doesnt let me select the install folder. it wants to automatically install in on C:\programm files (x86)\microsoft games\ fsx but i have fsx installed on a different drive is there any way to let "ftx global base" know where to look for fsx ? thanks in advance
  20. Just exploring, wanting to see more of what global has to offer. Straight overland, cutting across Cambodia and Laos with no respect for airspace (hey, not the first time that's happened). Really like the Hercules - it's a fine plane. coming in to Hanoi That was fun. And I saved the flight at the approach to Hanoi so I can go back and practice my landings. Who knows - I may eventually manage to land without all the wing waggling that I didn't show you.
  21. Not been there before, thought I'd take a look. Bit grey for my taste.
  22. Still at it. Leaving Aden to head for Djibouti, then on to the Rift Valley Coming back into Africa via the Gulf of Tadjoura, over Djibouti city. This is the default FTX/FSX/P3D version, but I subsequently found that Richard Bui has done a freeware version of the area and I reshot a couple of these and stuck them at the end of the topic Heading on up the Gulf towards the upper end of the Eastern Rift Valley itself This is Lake Basaka. A few tens of km over to my left at this point is Addis Ababa, and I'll take a little detour there to have a look round next. Addis should be just beyond the heights showing in the distance, so I'll swing round here and head off Addis Ababa (HAAB) just ahead on my left Unfortunately, the default HAAB seems to have elevation issues (sunken runways). I tried messing with the Vector AE adjustments, but it wouldn't come good however I did it. But after a bit of nosing around the web I found a freeware HAAB that looked promising, so I plugged it in, went back to a save point, and re-approached Addis. The weather conditions weren't an exact match but hey . . . Coming up ahead This looks a bit better So - a few shots around the airport and the city surroundings, via a couple of borrowed rides - And finally back at the airport To finish - a couple of shots of the Djibouti overfly using Richard Bui's freeware Djibouti Sorry about the amount of shots - OCD again!
  23. All of a sudden I am having a problem with FSX shutting down. Never happened before today with no new items added to FSX. See screenshots attached. fisheye FSX Global FSS0379336
