Exactly, capitalisation of bps (bits/second) vs Bps (Bytes/second) really makes a huge difference, and you end up trying to compare apples with oranges and leading to confusion when they're not used consistently or appropriately. Usually your network connection speed or bandwidth is expressed in bps, and file download or transfer speed data rate is expressed in Bps. Mbps (Megabits per second) refers typically to the raw throughput of the network connection, the speed of the actual 1s and 0s being transferred. Then there's transmission protocol overheads such as error correction etc
