I have been married for 49 years to Anne a former Police Woman. We have 3 children who all attended University and now live overseas, in Ottawa Canada, and Sydney Australia.
While serving in the New Zealand Police I was badly injured. Spent a long time in NZ's Spinal Unit with a broken back and damaged spinal cord. Now wheel chair or bed ridden. (gaming has been a wonderful time killer and consequently enjoy it). Most of my Police career spent in one man Stations (with family) in back blocks of the Country. Earlier, when I thought I was bullet proof was asked, and joined, NZ Armed Offenders Squad. Not a time to be half asleep, I assure you.
Was a Junior All Black against British and Irish Lions. Also played against France, and Wales. Played 7 years for my Province in Rugby and Cricket. Also represented NZ combined Services in Rugby and Cricket.
Called up and served in the NZ Army for some years, in regards to the Vietnam War.
Anne (wife), received a bravery award for conduct during an ugly incident while we were in a Sole Charge Police Station, and I was out of town.
My son played Golf for NZ at 17 yrs of age, played in NZ Open at 16 and picked to represent NZ in a world Youth tournament played in Australia. Then tragedy, one night he woke in pain and it was later diagnosed he suffered severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, spending a year in Hospital, and forced to retire at very young age. He was later awarded NZ,s young achiever of the year with his disability.
