Just a quick question: will ORBX as a business continue to be about the only developer (and in this case also solo-retailer) in the flightsim-world not to offer potential customers the option of paying through PayPal? Cheers Mallard

I actually went through quite a number of the "frozen paypal" sites - most of them which are several years old. And what I gleaned from the more serious ones is that Orbx obviously did not read the EULA correctly. How ironic... Well - be it as it may, that's the end of my 6 years of loyal custom. Hi Uwe - I used to have the prepaid card from the ADAC. If you're a member with them, then you can get it for €29 per year. Cheers Mallard

To be or not to be.....

I see the real problem here that Orbx was simply not properly prepared. Because, as you quite rightly point out, a large number of other flightsim-related sites have paypal - and no problems whatsoever. I don't recall FSS having come under such difficulties each time a new Orbx release was made available and their servers crashed due to demand. Or do you hear REX or Aerosoft mentioning moving away from paypal? No - as with the bandwitdth issues Orbx did not recognise what was coming at them and got caught out. But it's not for us, the clients, who should have to be the ones to suffer the consequences, but for Orbx to get things settled if they want to play with the big boys. Or they should offer their products on other sales-platforms that allow us to continue purchasing as before. Just my (probably unpopular) 2 eurocents... Cheers Mallard -
I know that - I have a Visa Debit card myself now. But that is still more than the majority of Germans have. There the EC-Maestro card is the standard, which, allthough technically a debit card, pretty much is limited to cash withdrawals or direct payments through cardreader machines. Heck, I had major problems the first few times I came to Ireland and wanted to rent a car here. Without a "real" credit car that is pretty much impossible. Or even paying for a room in France (or filling up the tank of my car) was quite a gamble with only the EC-card at hand. At one point on a trip through France I was lucky to have had a Swiss mastercard at hand when I wanted to pay for a hotel room, because two of my German cards would not be accepted anywhere but at ATMs. In Germany itself there would have been no question at all that those cards would work everywhere and with everything... I had friends regularly asking me to book flights on the low-cost carriers, as they didn't have a card and could not complete the booking transactions. Of couse Orbx will have a number of transactions from Germany, it would be ridiculous to think that credit cards are not used there, but I still say they are losing out on an even larger customer base since paypal offers the link to ones bank account, and Stripe doesn't. Just making sure that things are all right on a flight from Blue Canyon-Nyack via Ganser and on to Redding I probably blew the portapotty over... Coming up over Ganser Field I interrupted my flight here for a couple of hours... And onward to Redding! Benton to the left below me Once again more or less cropped DX10s - this time with "Blue Daze" Shade preset Cheers Mallard

Thanks for the comments, mates! I think I had "Endless Summer" Shade preset on top of my SweetFX in these pics - and was myself quite pleased with the results Cheers Mallard

Care to X-plane why you highlighted the "X"?? A fine pic indeed... Cheers Mallard

After all that open water in the Samoa-series I suddenly I had the urge to make a quick flight around Cunderdin - which is nice and dry and inland I checked on Google Earth, and as far as I can see the Neptune is indeed still at Cunderdin aerodrome. I wonder what will ever become of that plane... More or less cropped DX10s Cheers Mallard
