  1. Definitely by impulse that's for sure!
  2. They didn't no, and yet they kinda live on I suppose as they were reworked somewhat into Jetstar and their 717s served with them and now still with QFlink I believe. I remember seeing the cockatoo livery 717 once when I was a kid.
  3. Recently got this airport as well and I must say stellar job ORBX! It looks simply stunning. I don't know if Impulse ever actually flew there but whatever, technicalities!
  4. Alliance pretty much exclusively flies mining charters out of Cairns and Adelaide is my understanding, with some seasonal operations over in New Zealand. I like them mostly for their F50, F70 and F100 fleet. In in sim I've been switching up between flying Alliance or Ansett recently. The F50 looks good in both of their schemes.
  5. It is probably my favourite place to fly in sim right now. Picked it up during the sale and the combination of mountains and a fun approach and departure with the beautiful sea right there is great. I can thank chaseplane for the camera angle. I was skeptical about getting it at first but now I can't imagine flying without it. So much freedom for interesting shots as well as navigating VC panels with ease. I just need to buy a second numpad or something so I can bind my favourite angles I guess.
  6. One of my first flights involving the Carendo F50 taking off from my recent FS homebase of Cairns. It's such a nice airport and after being at the real thing in June, the Orbx depiction is still reasonably accurate. If those opposing hills were higher definition I'd say it'd be tough to tell this shot apart from a real photo!
  7. Alright I got it, textures have been upgraded and now show fine. Might eventually upgrade all the FTX AI aircraft just to be on the safe side, it's not all that hard to do really given I already do this stuff when repainting.
  8. Hey all, I have recently made the switch to using DX10 full time and I have to say I very much enjoy the smoothness and better shading it gives (and that water!). I have noticed that some of the AI models however show the usual issue of no textures being displayed. I have fixed this on my flyable skyspirit models by converting the textures and I'm guessing that I have to do the same here. My main issue however is finding the particular aircraft that are having issues. The REX Saab 340s are easy enough to fix but theres a mysterious RR powered A330 sitting at Melbournes T2 when you set the si
  9. Alright thanks for the reply. I've seen the logos around on a few sites so that makes sense. Given we fly out of Brisbane, there's plent of incentive to try and get some other pilots to give ORBX scenery and airports a try.
  10. Great photos, really like the Asiana 777s' photo angle. Not a fan of the T7 normally but it looks nice there as you hid its neck and its engines don't look so oversized!
  11. Hello all. Not sure where to put this so I thought here would be best. Does ORBX offer any kind of sponsorships or similar to other flight sim sites or Virtual airlines? Reason I ask is because I have recently been looking around for my VA and have noticed some FS developers (like Aerosoft) provide sponsorship and discounts whilst others (like PMDG) do not seem to offer the same. I was wondering what ORBXs stance is on this matter? I remember reading that no sales were being provided here anymore with the move to the different pricing scheme so that might be a part of my answer. Regards, ~A
  12. Bit of a late reply (over a month!) but thanks all, much appreciated.
  13. Hello all, This is only my second attempt at making a HD video from FS. Must say it takes ages for them to upload to youtube! This was intended originally in idea to be a promo for my VA before its launch, however by the time I had the ideas and tools for it the VA had already been running for a couple months so I adapted it into a short promo. Even from 38,000ft, FTX Australia still looks excellent with its good terrain definition. [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf81O9U4Yys
  14. G'day all, I'm not sure if this is the right forum for it but I don't think there is anywhere else appropriate for it. Also about time I dropped the old thread considering I'm no longer contemplating it. This month sees Reach Airways continuing to expand with new pilots and aircraft to our existing destinations. It is currently planned to launch some west coast and central Australian destinations by December pending approval and aircraft availability. Currently the aircraft fleet consists of 4 737s (two each of both -700 and -800 model), an ATR 72-500 for regional operations and an Airbus A3
  15. I have now set up the forums which are available to join from here; http://reachva.com/smf/index.php Currently accounts for the website are not linked with the forums so remember to register on both. Guests are only able to view a limited amount of the forums with the majority of it reserved for members only.
  16. Alright it's been a month since my last post. I've been busy with my University studies and as such haven't had terribly that much time to post updates. That said, there has been progress. Most notable of all is that the VA now has a website; http://www.reachva.com I'm still working on the website layout and design so it is very much a WIP at this stage. Many of the pages still need filling out but technically the airline is operational to a degree now. I've also finalised my two PMDG skins for the 737-700 and 737-800 models and have now completed a repaint and extensive modification of
  17. There is a nice Rockwell commander that I fly around in already, got it from simviation I think. Freeware. I personally would love to see a Grumman widgeon for exploring the areas I like flying as well as an Avro 504 or similar. Also definately a Saab 340. The FFS one is nice though it's a shame you can't get it anymore. Mine works decently in FSX.
  18. The Fokker is the digital aviation model (pay ware) now available from flight1 since DA no longer exists. The aircraft does not have a VC (though one is still apparently in development) but its perfectly fly able with the 2D panels. I prefer using 2D panels in airliners anyway as I find them easier to work through with my lack of trackIR. It may lack a VC but the level of detail on the exterior model and the sounds are nice. They look like the Alliance and Skywest fokkers Ive seen up close plenty of times.
  19. Thanks for the feedback guys, it all helps. Imslowly starting to get a better understanding of layer modes, adjustment layers and alpha channels in photoshop for flightsim. I've also been very happy with these three paint kits so far; clear and easy to understand. The NGXs is in my opinion the best with its layers that describe what each texture is as well. Provides rulers that make transferring. The end result to the texture files so much easier. Thanks for that link Michael, i'll have to have a look through that one in the morning. I've been using metro va and The free world airways website
  20. Alright I've been busy so haven't done all that much visible progress. Been working on a rough website template to match the livery based upon one of the freely available phpVMS linked templates. I haven't got anything of that to show yet as I'm still trying to sort out the drop down menus and colour palette. I don't have a web hosting or domain name yet for Reach Airways either so progress in that side will be slow. I have however done another aircraft in the Reach livery, this time it is Digital Aviations beautiful Fokker F-100; I rather like how the livery looks on this alread
  21. It also is dependent upon the aircrafts exit config. Most third party add-ons are missing the 'exits' section which jetways use to connect to the aircraft. It is a relatively simple fix however.
  22. Alright it's been almost a month since my last update here but now I have something to show; the livery on the PMDG NGX 737-800WL now with 'reach' titles, aircraft type and registration decals. This repaint is pretty much finished now in my opinion other than a few possible slight adjustments. It's a simple but clean livery which is what I was after to reflect an LCC correctly. Whilst doing this I also had the idea of a special livery with whole fuselage green and white titles which I may or may not do. Feedback is most welcome.
  23. As I've been working on the NGX paint some more (and really loving it's paint kit) and thinking of some other possible name ideas for the airline. So far Wake, Breeze & Reach are names that sound appropriate for this kind of airline and are also fairly easy to remember. What are your opinions on these names and/or do you have any others that are of similar theme?
  24. Due to popular request here's a PMDG 737-800NGX Winglet version of the WIP livery. There's been some interesting name suggestions so far but I'm still open to them. The NGX required a slightly altered livery to the Airbus X to better suit the airframe and also slightly adjusted the aspect ratio of the tail logo. The airline probably will end up having both 737s and A320s so pilots can fly that which they prefer.
  25. Well I'm downloading the 800/900 NGX paint kit at the moment and I'll see about doing it up in the same partial scheme to see how it looks. Might be an idea for the airline to have an airbus and Boeing side for its fleet to cater for pilots of both types (even if that means sacrificing realism in the airline fleet itself). All this just means more aircraft to figure out how to repaint! (Airbus X, Project Airbus A320, NGX, Default 737, posky 737, etc).
