  1. Has anyone got a fix for the YSSY 16L ILS misaligned issue?
  2. Hi Guys, I had a quick look and couldn't see a forum dedicated to Developers and development of scenery etc... Seeing I am about to embark on the fun and painful process of learning how to develop scenery so that I can contribute to the greater community, I was wondering if there is a suitable forum for discussing some of the challenges and triumphs that I am likely to go through? Cheers D
  3. I just have to say... I am so lucky to have a special lady in my life that is supportive of my (some will call it an addiction) Flight Sim hobby. Here's some reasons why I think she is the most special lady in the world to me. - She understands my passion for Flight Sim and accepts it is a part of my life. - She was supportive of my $4500 hardware purchase so I could get the most out of FSX & FTX. - She's always keen to see what the new FSX scenery is that I install when it is released. - She understands and gets caught up in the excitement of a new scenery release. - She participates with my simming as a co-pilot and looks after ATC comms and minor flight activities (reset altimeter before take-off and landing, looking after passengers etc). - She enjoys the thrill of an emergency and we land safely and passengers are ok (We use FSPassengers for more immersive goodness). - She laughs and pats me on the back when an emergency doesn't go well and we choose NOT to record that flight. - She gets excited for me as I achieve a new pilot rating (FSPassengers again) and our company can purchase new and better aircraft. - She encourages me to take time-out and have time for me when work and family keeps me away from simming. - She has the strength to say "I think that's going too far" when I looked at a complete 737 cockpit hardware setup (cost about $25k) - She takes part in the planning of our flights and suggests points of interest for us to fly over and where she/we have been in real life to see what FTX have done in those areas. - She is supportive of me looking for getting in to the industry for future employment options. - She brings me drinks and snacks when I am simming and have lost track of time. - She makes some great FTX suggestions for me to put on these forums (such as airshows - other than Avalon). - She lets me rant and rave when Flight Sim crashes to desktop and I loose hours of flight time. - She reminds me I have a life outside of Flight Sim when needed. More than anything, she is happy for me to be me and accepts this hobby is a part of my life. I hope you are all as lucky as I am to have such a loving, understanding and supportive partner - They often miss out on the recognition they deserve. Cheers D
  4. Thank you everyone (John in particular) for that in-depth overview. I was getting impatient for Sydney and saw the Horizon version. Now it has been explained, I think I'll wait for an FTX version. Cheers
  5. Hi Guys, With the recent ANZAC day displays, it got me thinking that we Aussies have a lot of events that have a variety of aircraft involved. Avalon has a special airshow addon that livens up the scenery. How about a collection of events loaded in to a single package for release? Some examples are:- - ANZAC day flyovers of military aircraft around capital cities - Australia Day flyovers - Australia day fireworks - Sydney olympics recreated - Brisbane's Riverfire with F111 Fuel burn and fireworks - Amberly airshow - Caboolture Airshow (once you create the Caboolture scenery - hehehehe) - Townsville Airshow - Bathurst 1000 Flyovers and news helicopters for the great race - Philip Island motogp (once you create the Philip Island scenery - hehehehe) - New Years Eve fireworks displays I'm sure there is a load more that could be added with patches. Another idea is skydiving displays with skydivers freefalling and then under canopy at jumpzones - great to avoid them as hiting a skydiver would really mess up the aircraft. There are also things like modelling boats and leasure craft specific for Australia such as ferries etc. Even the Sydney to Hobart. Alsternatively, you could create a mission pack to go with these types of events? Just some ideas that would make the simming experience just that bit better. Cheers D
  6. Hi Guys, I have Flight Sim Passengers which is a great addon and gives my flights more purpose - especially in realistic mode. There is a tour mode which allows you to takeoff and land at the same airport. The things is that I would like to use this mode for some of the aquatic aircraft such as the beaver but there aren't any water runways in Australia. Would it be possible to have some added to the FTX scenery? I think with Cairns International for example the fact that the marina has been modeled to include these types of aircraft it would be great to have a water runways set up with some of these aircraft types doing AI circuits. Another could be added to Green Island. Other airports on the coast such as Coffs Harbour could also have them added. I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to setup and adds yet another element to the flight sim experience and something no other company has done for Australian scenery. I'd like to see if the rest of the community agrees and have these features added - even if they can be enabled/disabled in the control panels for the airfields. Cheers D
  7. Thanx for the advice. Looks like what I need is just a new motherboard, DDR3 RAM and CPU. Saitec yoke and pedals are on order already. Will look at some of the videos. Cheers D
  8. Hi Guys, I have come in to some $$$ and was wondering what is the best PC build/spec to buy that will give me the best performance and allow me to set FSX & FTX to maximum settings? I am talking about movie quality & smooth visual performance here. FSX & FTX Settings are set as per recommendations in the PDF (medium high average) with TrackIR running. I want to make the next PC one of the best for running this software as I plan on buying more FTX products and after-market (Go-Flight) instrument panels too Current System is: Processor Information: Vendor: GenuineIntel Speed: 2500 Mhz 4 logical processors 4 physical processors HyperThreading: Unsupported FCMOV: Supported SSE2: Supported SSE3: Supported SSSE3: Supported SSE4a: Unsupported SSE41: Supported SSE42: Unsupported Network Information: Network Speed: Operating System Version: Windows Vista (64 bit) NTFS: Supported Crypto Provider Codes: Supported 323 0x0 0x0 0x0 Video Card: Driver: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 DirectX Driver Name: nvd3dum.dll Driver Version: 8.17.12.6658 DirectX Driver Version: 8.17.12.6658 Driver Date: 8 Jan 2011 Desktop Color Depth: 32 bits per pixel Monitor Refresh Rate: 59 Hz DirectX Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 VendorID: 0x10de DeviceID: 0x6cd Number of Monitors: 2 Number of Logical Video Cards: 2 No SLI or Crossfire Detected Primary Display Resolution: 1680 x 1050 Desktop Resolution: 3360 x 1050 Primary Display Size: 23.35" x 14.57" (27.48" diag) 59.3cm x 37.0cm (69.8cm diag) Primary Bus: PCI Express 8x Primary VRAM: 1280 MB Supported MSAA Modes: 2x 4x 8x Sound card: Audio device: Speakers (Realtek High Definiti Memory: RAM: 4094 Mb Miscellaneous: UI Language: English Microphone: Not set Media Type: DVD Total Hard Disk Space Available: 2050820 Mb Largest Free Hard Disk Block: 734465 Mb Steam Hard Disk Usage: 157261 Mb OS Install Date: Jan 01 1970 Game Controller: Microsoft PC-joystick driver detected
