  1. Scene opens in blaze of light and sound. Orchestra sound like they're going to explode. We can hear a heartbeat pounding at 80Db. The screen comes in to focus and . . . All the alarms are sounding. The passengers (a small select band of kamikaze war gamers) are singing a cheery song, and then, on the main screen - (Fade to black, silence) Six months later. Captain - "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are approaching the scene of the mysterious events of August 2020. At approximately 15.35 that day, a scheduled Boeing 78

  2. When we last left the flight we were just topping out of the mountains above 1S2 Darrington WA, well here we are again! (just a different perspective)! As you can tell from the readout on the LED we are 9.7 km from 1S2 and the finish is 150 meters agl and bit off to our left, this is turn point 3 of 4 We are diving at 150 kms and 3200 mps (everything is in metrics in this glider) including the altimeter, talk about a quandary! Getting down in a hurry and coming in HOT! Circle above the A/P to lose some altitude! Pretty h

  6. A fairly short but difficult challenge flying a glider from Israel's Farm to Darrington depending on just the uplift on ridges with a 14 kt wind from the west and no thermals in between ridges! Used a Cessna tow plane to 2500 feet, first turn point was at 2000 feet above the valley floor. The flight took about 45 minutes due to hunt and find lift, lots of circling to get the height to get over some of the ridges and get to the finish line. The first part covers the tow mostly and the second part will cover the landing (not much between). Club bus, people and extra aircraft courtesy of the

  12. Wouldn't it be great if MSFS could replicate lenticular clouds like these! They were taken by an Air NZ pilot while flying from Christchurch to Invercargill recently at an altitude of 18,000ft. The stunning clouds formed just south of Dunedin as a result of a very strong westerly airstream.

  14. After a comment I made in another post, I did some measuring. The central span on Tower Bridge is 60.96 metres. The wingspan of the 787 is 60 metres. (@olderndirt, this is for you) Gotta be worth a try. Setting off and turning round from Heathrow (Orchestral music rising in pitch. Discordant violins screeching with increasing intensity) Did he make it? Will he survive to next week? See the next thrilling installment at a big screen near you!

  19. As mentioned elsewhere Orbx have updated the product and supplied that update to the vendor you purchased it from, it is the responsibility of that vendor to pass those updates on to you. Especially as Orbx has no visibility of you as a customer, after all you are not Orbx's customer you are Microsoft's.

  21. Hahaha! Very good! I'm with you on "Oh Well". I saw Peter Green a few times when he was with the original Fleetwood Mac (and also with John Mayall) ... there really was no-one then (and since) that had his touch. His gentle understated riffs seem to echo his personality. If you've never heard it before, check out his beautiful background solo on John Mayall's "First Time Alone". Adam.

  35. Hello, in all fairness, Asobo themselves have not "over-hyped" the simulator. That has been very capably done by those outside the development team whose motives were various but all based on invention and supposition, rather than fact. This provided a torrent of free publicity for the product but an equal torrent of unrealistic expectation which has, in some cases, now turned into disappointment.

  36. I half agree with you but this is not 1983 nor 1993 nor 2003 nor 2013 it is 2020 and I expected a flight sim with at least an equivalent set of functions as FSX with a lot of FPS improvements not an early release title sold at full retail price with the promise of 10 years more development with reduced scope than FSX. Where does it say they have guaranteed free upgrades for 10 years, all they said is there is more to come for the next 10 years. I have understanding with the bugs and some of the less than polished functions but there is a swath of things missing from what I and oth

  43. I play on medium settings and I prefer the autogen landscapes in MSFS than the otherworldly Photogrammetry when it includes the trees and shrubs. Seeing what they did with the autogen landscapes im sure if they put effort into it they could use similar tech to cull the photogrammetry flora and replace it with their autogen flora. Its a tall order but their algorithms are very impressive. For example, when i fly out of Tacoma Narrows, on one side to the east on the peninsula, there is beautiful autogen forests everywhere, but when you cross the narrows towards Tacoma proper you see all these bl

  45. Reading all of the above posts i can't help thinking one thing.. If all the issues raised had been sorted prior to release or this tree was wrong or that buiding is not right had been corrected (Will that ever be the case?) Are we not then looking for the perfect sim on Day 1... What do we think 3rd party post release devlopers bring to the table?...A perfect sim = No 3rd party content... Just my opinion of course.

  46. Firstly, I am still very happy with P3D4/5, XP11 Vulcan, DCS, Aerofly FS2, IL-2 - with plenty of add ons. However, very pleased with the immediate $value of MFS - Steam Standard version, & using FS-FlightControl as moving map & lots of extra functionality (yes SimConnect needs to be fixed ASAP). The most striking aspect of MFS, to me, is the global internet streaming scenery system - very impressive infrastructure (make sure you have a quality ISP) - & of course the AI deployed in this scenery. @Mawson, like you, very disappointed at the lack of
