P3D 4 - Orbx everything and maxed out too. Made a nice flight with AS4 & ASCA weather on from default KSAN to Camp Pendleton. Was quite relaxing. Sorry for so many and no aerobatics. Very happy with the sky and water colors, took a while.2 points

Where is the problem, I have both, each on their own SSD, FSX well established and stable, with aircraft and scenery that I have created, not available to P3Dv4, a lot of years and a lot of enjoyment. So it will remain. P3Dv4 is still a baby, fresh as they come, promising a bright future, but still a lot of growing to do. It should eventually become something great. After all it is based on FSX. Each to their own with respect for everyone else and their choice.2 points

Well, stay with it if that's what you want. Many, if not most, are moving on to the 64 bit world. I, for one, joined the beta and downloaded all the airports (I own all of them). I had a few problems, mostly minor, that were fixed with the help of some folks on the beta forum and with common sense. At the moment, P3d v4 runs smooth, clean and beautiful. I have the A2A and PMDG aircraft along with several Aorosoft and Alebo planes. ASN4, Chaseplane and UTLive and several other addons, all run fine. It aint{ that hard.2 points

After having struggled with texture mix-ups in my FSX for weeks, I have probably found & solved the conflict. At least I was able to successfully fly home again. From Porta Westfalica... ... over Bückeburg... ... towards the VW works in Stöcken (and you can spots many sights of my hometown to the south, I mean right). @VH-KDK knows this view already... Closing in... ... and ready to park. They will need to change the AI liveries soon. I am glad to be able to screenshot again!2 points

Okay, Jack, I thought I'd give it a try. But when you went through earlier, you must have upset somebody, cause when I went tried later people were yelling at me and almost closed the hangar doors before I made it through ! Had to land on the golf course across the freeway, pack up and beat feet before the cops showed up !2 points

No Photoshop involved. I try some new tweaks in PTA. Please zoom/open the original to see the intended result :-)1 point

Something doesnt look right Jack. So i see you are not using the REX sky, and probably that is the reason. Something is off here. You saw my pics. This is also some i made with 11, I think its like i thought first, they colored the fog/haze/dust to match the sky from rex essentials. And according to the website they use wiered fog inside that textures too so the whole "pic" can only achieved with both, rex & essentials im afraid. Sorry to hear that. If you want help with setup, you can hit me up anytime.1 point

Sometimes I like the smaller airports as well from the busy metropolitan ones. The details can just be eye popping Well done.1 point

Very nice thread Jack....I bet that airliner was sweating when the pilots saw you climbing out! Well done!1 point

Gosh that is a difficult question to answer Rob as it depends on so many things. In my case, I had a spare drive in my pc so was able to install FSX and P3DV4 on separate drives - leaving room for expansion. I will in any event keep FSX going for quite some time - particularly as I have aircraft (which I really enjoy flying) on it which might never be released for P3D. The offer by orbx to allow purchases of their scenery to be downloaded to both sims was the tipping point for me. It meant that for the cost of the sim I would be able to populate it with fantastic scenery at no e1 point

Ok, how about this? I decided to try REX's #11 preset, bad decision, I'm going back to Adam's. So far his is the best. But I thought I'd have an even bigger challenge as I needed to test out the update to the DC-6. Really beautiful plane isn't it? I think you know where we're heading by now. Water looks nice but I left something in the hangar! Better head back to the hangar and get it. "Capt., you sure this is a good idea?? "Yup, it's easy peasy, wish this plane was yellow though!"1 point

Hi Paul, just got on the forum now. As Adam Banks described it to me one is shaders and one is textures. PTA is shaders and REX is textures. So you can install PTA any time you want to. I'd recommend using Adam's preset first and then experimenting with REX's. In my opinion they have way too many presets, it confuses me and if you mix and match sky sets what good are their presets unless I'm missing something. You can install either or in any order. If you need more help lemme know via PM. Jack1 point

Hi Jack, slightly off topic, but I believe that you use PTA. After installing P3DV4, I next installed Rex4 TD & SC. I understand how they work together. Today I purchased and installed PTA and also downloaded the free presets for PTA from the REX site. If I want to use one of these presets in PTA, what do I do next? Should I do that before I go to Rex4 and then P3D? I tried to read their help guide but it seemed to cover the more complex areas and not the basics. Any advice from you (or anyone else reading) would be appreciated. Cheers Pa1 point

Thank you! And she's an awesome "Hand" flyer as well too. No autopilot for some parts of that flight. Aren't they nice lines? Like them more than the C182.... Thanks VH- this new system was desperately needed. Thank you lain! Much appreciated bro.1 point

Thank you Iain! That one comes as standard within P3DV4 Thanks Andy! . I bought and installed the new REX4 enhanced edition last week. I don't really like the cumulus, too blobby and flat underneath. The medium and high levels are fine. I used 'building storms' for this set, a suggestion from Adam. Re 'too bright and washed out' the lighting is a key area to focus on. Play around with both brightness and saturation. You will see huge differences are available. My next step is probably to look at PTA. After that I might look at ASCA.1 point

Very nice. I like that colors. Very natural and realistic, not oversaturated at all. That's how I like it too.1 point

Sorry, i didnt see it first. Sure thats ASCA clouds. But the last tick that makes it like this is the new REX PTA presets (free) that have some newly kind of cloud lightning tweaks. In this case its Preset Nr 11 from that REX set and normal ASCA clouds I probably should add that i use a low resolution set of the clouds hehe. I set it to 1024 pixels, but one can go up to 4096. So thats by far not the end of the possibilities :-)1 point

Thanks guys first :-) your comments are very appreciated. VH-KDK, usually i dont get them. Can be in this pics because i changed the cam very fast often, and used time preview, wich not really is what is the endresult. I tried to find other one, at least i dont see them here for example: Im using p3d v4, yes. But in PTA you can change cloud shadow forming, and probably the shadow quality settings in p3d also have something to do, how many shadow layers are generated etc. And what cloud programm one is using too probably. how high the resolution etc. But in my case its even mid-size1 point

You will be happy with the move Paul just like I was when I made the change inn the v2 days. I don't use anything like FSUIPC and I have never had any issues with my CH yoke or pedals.1 point

Great series Jack! Looks like you were playing a game of 'chicken' in shots 4 and 5 .1 point

Yes. You are correct, Jack. Congrats. https://youtu.be/XRjsS3sgY5I Thank-you, everyone for the kind and amusing comments. Glad you liked these.1 point

No real reason, I used real weather in Bella Coola. Try set 1 or 18 for low level clouds and take the F-22 for a spin. Set the weather to cold front or building storms.1 point

That kind of scenery glitch makes it unusable by my standards. 100% immersion breaking. Hopefully there is a solution somewhere. Update: As a test I did an uninstall and reinstall. Same issue. Checked out about 5 other airports and CYLW so far is the only one with the issue. How odd that the 1st airport I try is the one with the issue. I'll do some more testing.1 point
