  2. So I phoned the control tower at Juneau to complain about those mountains at the end of runway 8 and suggested very nicely that they should move them about 300' to the left. But these guys were very rude. They just laughed at me and suggested I should park my CS732 and run as fast as I can down runway 8 flapping my arm up and down really hard and when I take off I would probably miss those mountains. Huh. And now to Mother Nature. Well there is a really nasty woman. So I finally for once missed them darn hills at runway 8 and cranked my yoke hard right and what did the Mother do? Well she plun

  3. Steve posted some nice shots with his Cessna 195 so I had to buy it. Tested it out at KPSP and I love it. Huge cantilevered wing back then with no struts. And it's very slippery, it seems like it doesn't want to slow down on landing. I like it.

  4. So, the first part of a jaunt in the rather splendid Virtavia F3H Demon. Left San Diego and headed down the coast, planning to travel down Baja, cut across inland, and head back up into So-Cal over KPSP way. I really love the level of detail in SCA - if you've got a big screen take a look at these full size, they're all 4k images. Wonderful scenery so far, will turn in soon and head across Have crossed the peninsula and turned north, back in the USA now and planning to head up to Palm Sp

  5. While being a GA flyer most of the time, I occasionally take a jet to the skies. Let's see how FTX SAK looks at 20.000+ feet. 1. Outbound Elmendorf Buckaroo style! Being at 20K in no-time. 2. Now let's see it from above. 500 knots is not that fast on this altitude. The mountains glide slowly by. 3. Descending to encounter some higher peaks. 4. Still going down. All is going very fast now. Had to pause sometimes for the textures to catch up but is was not the "blurry" problem. Just going too fast. 5. Signs of global

  6. I bought two nice airports for my recently purchased SAK and they look great! The trip between the two was stunning. 1. Last checks done. Off we go! 2. Just look at that fuel barn! 3. The nearby surroundings are all flat be very beautiful. 4. Back to the glaciers again! 5. Crossing them at approx. 11.000 feet. 6. Finals Juneau. I noticed a curved approach but I guess that's for the heavies. 7. Are you sure this is Alaska and not somewhere at Barbados? 8. They

  7. You know I just had to do something like that Martyn! But I aim to sail it around Catalina someday soon. Hi Steve, I never knew that about the Great Lakes. I know the unfortunate Edmund Fitzgerald but man, I don't think I'd want to be in those waters unless I was in a sub maybe. LOL! Thanks Erik!

  8. I have located and read posts in this forum about the scenery issues I am experiencing. But I want to start a new topic about my problem specifically. I have been using FSX and ORBX for years with few problems. I am now using FSX-SE and have been for about a year now. I have completely uninstalled the FSX boxed edition. About 2 weeks ago I started having the issues shown in the screenshot. This just started recently while flying in Europe. I went back to North America to see if the problem was there and it was. There are large and small patches of strange texture and water everywh

  9. Stunning work here by Matteo Veneziani. Here are my first shots showing the airport and surrounding scenery all shot in P3Dv3.2 There is lots and lots to explore here, with such level of detail. Of course, there are options in the control panel to switch in and out. Compatible with Global/openLC NA & SoCal

  10. I just installed A2A's AccuFeel2 and it does control how far my floatplanes will run out on landing by increasing the water drag on the floats. It's one of the best utilities that I have purchased in a long while. It is not a one size fits all programs but allows each aircraft to be fined tuned and the settings are saved with the aircraft. No longer do I have to land a mile or so away from the beach to prevent going aground at 40 mph and the overall aircraft handling on water is more realistic. Best of all the program allows you to fine tune all of your aircraft, not just t

Ready for takeoff from Misha's Bero Field - some extra 'horsepower' there if we need it. These are still the 'required' instruments for VFR flight. Vernonia, OR.

  20. Thanks Mikee, obviously the add-ons do not overload my PC. Thank you Dolf! At least I begin to get some orientation in NZL. 4 weeks ago I was totally lost down there and yesterday I could precisely discuss the sights of the country with a lady that had been there over Chrismas: They walked the Milford Track ("along Arthur River, southwards from Mi-Sound?"), went even under the waterfall (and we all know where it is), visited Queenstown ("went Bungee juming there?" - "oh yes, all of us"). Orbx is a better geography lesson than I ever had at school...

  31. Money well spent Jack, this is a beaut of a plane which I know you will enjoy. I guess there will be some magical shots of this plane chasing down some ships coming up. Doesn't the engine make a great sound too.

  32. Glad you found them Jack, at first I thought I had given you a bum steer but they were all at sea. Some wonderful shots of the flotilla. Just had a squiz on Windyty and there is some pretty active wind patterns around Atlanta. Hope you are all safe there.

  33. Aha! I see I've been a bad influence Isn't she a beauty? And don't forget you have those "add drag only" flaps to help you slow down, the giant landing lights might help too - I heard an airline pilot say they did help slow you on the MD80/DC-9. A great shot of a gorgeous aircraft...highly recommended. I did cheat and add a GPS to mine though. Enjoy your new toy Jack! Steve

  36. Thanks folks. I do tend to use "real weather" most of the time but there are plenty of good alternatives to use on occasion, I guess. LOL! I always used to say to people on my trips there that So-Cal has a climate, we (in the UK) have weather. But then, without it, what would we have to talk to strangers about?
