  1. Hello everyone, Firstly before I forget, I'd like to thank each and every single one of you for the fantastic support through 2015 and here's wishing you and your family a great festive season and a safe new year. Drink responsibly and blue skies to all! Now onto business. I just wanted to give you a heads up on some impending releases and one delay. The FTX NA SCA Southern California first release candidate is being prepared by Ed as we speak. Hopefully the testing team can give it a good bill of health this coming week and we can ge

  2. Yesterday I removed my old desks and put the new ones in place. Everything up and running again but had to find new homes for the old furniture which has all taken a lot of time. Great fun assembling the new desks as there were no instructions. 1. Hop in the C-90 to try everything out. 2. Have set the auto pilot and heading so I don't know where I am going as usual. 3. 4. 8. Excellent shots Gerold. Very wintery looking gloom on the ground. Some unusual weather in Europe at the moment for sure, just reading about the warm days on the BBC. Come on down to Oz, just after 9am and 30c going for a top of 40c today. You wont be alone as I noticed on Flightradar24 earlier this week some Dutch and German gliders operating out of Cowra on the NSW/Vic border.

  19. 64bits is over-rated IMO, at leat until such a FS is released we don't really know the real (as opposed to wishful thinking) pluses and minuses. It is not for tomorrow anyway, do not hold your breath. P3D will give you much more eye candy than FSX for an improved performance. How much improved ? Its difficult to assess as parameters (hardware, FS preferred settings, type of flying etc) vary a lot from user to user. I saw something subtantial from FSX/DX10 fo P3D 2.3 myself when I switched. But why don't you try ? LM has a 60 day trial http://www.prepar3d.com/support/r

  23. Hi Don You may not like what I'm about to say . You will gain a lot switching from FSX but you will not cure your problems which are not linked to FSX Like many, I've had FSX for years without fatal errors or dismantled aircraft in mid-air and I see some having the same troubles as you have in P3D. Your problems come from the way you manage you simulator and/or a failing hardware (including bad drivers). And the same cause brings the same effects. Do not overtweak using the last miracle solution touted by some (snakeoil can kill people, you know) and do not use addons that are not

  28. Hi guys, I have cleaned this thread up and re-opened. Discussion of P3D EULA or licensing is strictly off-limits here on the Orbx support forums, and so are personal attacks against other members.

Mrs Claus was very kind but it's gunna cost me! Cheers Voyager. Thanks John, with the next three days over 40c the last thing we need is to start a fire, either inside or outside. Thank you Azkid. Put out your mince pies and glass of mile early on the 25th. Justt hope you have a chimney for him to squeeze down. Thanks Bermuda.

  30. G'day there, welcome to the forums This is indeed a known (minor) bug with the KBZN installer, press "ignore" when prompted as the files that are related to the error are not required and will have no effect on the scenery - if you'd like to have a further read for more information, there has previously been a discussion here. Cheers, Jarrad

  38. The crux of the OP's question in his original post comment (above) is that if he installs MegaSceneryEarth South Carolina, it will over-ride ALL of the above ORBX products installed that display "scenery" for the State of South Carolina. Photoscenery will over-ride Global Base (textures), Vector (roads, rivers, lakes, etc), and LC's (any ORBX Landclass files that are of a "global" nature for the South Carolina scenery area). As some people have mentioned, he could still install something like a third-party airport into the flight simulator, and it could sit "on top" of the MegaSce

  39. TomU - As some of the guys here probably remember I was where you are some time back...really frustrated and a little PO'd. I had all the same problems and saw all the same stuff. But I quickly learned that all the "stuff" I thought was wrong was not an ORBX issue at all but more a matter of my haste to "get it all loaded and fly around". Have a little faith, all these products work and they all work together really well. All I can advise is go slow, one thing at a time, and, most importantly, listen to the guys that know how to make this work. Fixing the problems you're seeing is

  40. Having flown over that area quite a bit in real life, and I don't find the colors in these shots horribly far off. Google Earth images vary greatly in how they render colors. I'm assuming that may be due to when they are captured, including the time of day and season (and then there's the difference in monitor settings). I'll be curious to see what's actually on my system when SCA arrives. Looking forward to it.

  42. Good catch Robert. There is a post below from a new user looking for uninstall advice. I was going to refer him to the FAQ's but I can't find the uninstall posts either. I think we really need to get these back as the uninstall question(s) are always coming up. Doug

  43. Love that you guys are doing SoCal finally, but I got to say....those Ventura County mountains are way too tan. I know we are in a drought and all, but there needs to be a little more geen in the coastal mountains. The mountains near Santa Paula shouldn't look like the mountains of the High Desert.

  44. It's the writes to the SSD that causes the "life span" problem not the reads. It's true that all SSD drives have a limited life. But, so do HDD's. I agree with teecee's computer tech. Go ahead and put P3D on the SSD and don't worry about it.

  45. Another opinion.....I've done it both ways and see absolutely no difference at all. None, nada, zilch. I wouldn't do a reinstall. Doug

  46. I would seriously look at Western Digital Velociraptor drives. They're 10,000 RPM drives and the only advantage of the SSD is faster initial load time. The price of the 1TB Velociraptor is less than half of the Samsung 850 and they come in every size from 150GB to ITB. I've run FSS on both types of drives and if I had to do it again I wouldn't switch to the SSD. In fact, I'm now back to running FSX on a 1TB Velociraptor plugged into a SATA docking station. Works like a charm. Doug
