  1. I have "fiddled" with flight simulator since it was just a series of green lines back in the 1980’s. As each new version has been released and become more complex and realistic, the more time I spent using it and upgrading everything, you know how it goes. And with the release of FSX my desk became a mess of screens and controls. With the encouragement of my very supportive wife, I bit the bullet and decided to build a cockpit. (Photos follow) Of course the first step was to search the net to get as much information as I could. Now I know that there are some really fantastic home cock

  2. EDIT: JV - The Iceland Demo User Guide now explains what FTX Global is all about in an easy to read guide including our product roadmap. Download the guide here: http://fullterrain.com/usermanuals/FTX_Global_Iceland_Demo_User_Guide.zip Hi all... Just to help clarify just what FTX Global is, and what it isn't, plus what we can all do to maximize our setups and get the best out of FSX/P3D, here's a quick explanation of the various FSX/P3D scenery "layers". Basically, there are 4 main layers to FSX/P3D scenery... MESH - Simply put, quite literally a 3D grid (or mesh) that defines

  3. Hi Steven, all our products are meant to be auto-sorted by FTX Central and, in fact, will be re-sorted each time you start FTX Central. Changing the order is more likely to cause display issues than help. Cheers, Holger

  8. The manual for NI says "10m is the native EU NIR mesh resolution" Is this an error then? No biggie for me if so as I've got the Nextmap FSGENESIS mesh as well, but if they licenced the data to produce that, how come it was unavailable to Orbx? :s

  12. Unfortunately in this particular case/video(s) this is incorrect, I fly in real life (as a passenger) about 10 times a year world wide as part of my Job (MS PFE) and I always have window seats assign per my request. most of my flights are in night time and I look out the window most of the time when there is visibility. every and almost every country / city I fly over (from North America, Europe, ME to the far east) the street lights in general are light orange like in those videos, with few white spots (white lights) scattered around the city. there are some times streets here an

  13. Thanks very much for the supportive comments AK Mongo... lol, it was not a choice to represent the area at low tide, it is as you say a LOT more work, but that is how the aerial imagery was provided, it's simply down to what time of day the aircraft that took the photo's was flying and it just so happened to be at super low tide.... lucky me lol Russ

  14. Just to add my own 2 cents to the conversation, I too would recommend the Majestic Q400... I'm actually a dash driver in real life, so take it from me, with the exception of a few very minor things, it models everything down to the finest detail... I actually use it to practice flows and company routes (in Orbx PNW of course!) and it's amazingly close to reality. Be warned though, it is VERY realistic and not too forgiving... It flies great, but it demands a good knowledge of the aircraft systems and procedures. Without that, it can be a bit daunting. Luckily, the Majestic site has a lot o

  15. I never said collaboration = funding, merely pointed out that at least from JV's point of view there is a willingness on, at least His part (if a well funded team/organisation) got going with the principle Idea of a new sim. Again not putting words into someone else's mouth just found it encouraging that the Idea would be considered, Its all a moot point, as we are pretty much aware that the likelihood of any new sim development is to say the least very very unlikely We have P3d wich will be a variation on FSX and v2.0 will again hopefully show further improvement. Then a post yesterday sho
