On October 1st 2007, Orbx announced development of ground terrain products for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. These products will be released in Region Packs and eventually cover the majority of the world. These series of product have been recently branded Full Terrain Experience (FTX). The first region pack, AU BLUE has been released.

Ground Terrain. Orbx is currently developing an exciting consumer and commercial ground terrain product called Full Terrain Experience (FTX) that introduces unprecedented levels of realism to Microsoft Flight Simulator X. This product is using 15cm/pixel source orthophoto imagery to produce a stunning realisation the entire continents. The product has begun shipping since March 2008, with further region packs for Australia, Europe and the USA to be released.


Major Australian Airports. Currently in  development are major Australian international and regional airports for FSX, which uses all the power of the FSX engine to provide for natively implemented features such as reflections, lighting, moving ground traffic and vehicles, animated aerobridges, detailed ground terrain and much more.


YMML Melbourne has been released in August 2008, with other airports planned for release later in 2008 and through 2009.


These airports will be available for both consumer and commercial customers and will be suitable for flight training operations. Airports due for release over the coming 24 months include  YMAV Avalon, YSSY Sydney, YBBN Brisbane, YPAD Adelaide, YPPH Perth and YMHB Hobart and others. Orbx also has plans to release further airports for other parts of the world.


GA Freeware Airfields.  Orbx will release a series of free GA airfields for the home and hobby market, designed to work with FTX. The airfields feature photo real ground terrain seamlessly integrated with our new Australian terrain product, and uses many of the native Flight Simulator X scenery features.
