FTX NA BLUE - Pacific Northwest Beta Build 5001 shots
« on: February 28, 2009, 04:58:54 PM »
The first PNW beta build 5001 is now in tester's hands. Holger and I took a few shots last night and also some before/after shots.

DISCLAIMER: There are many default FSX textures in these screenshots. We are only about 15% into the texture development work, so please understand these shots are early days yet. The main focus in showing you these images is to highlight the high resolution mesh, coastlines, roads, hydro, and topo development work which is nearing completion.

Firstly, a few before / after comparisions:

A few more I took in Oregon area:

And finally one shot in one of my favourite areas in B.C. -

I flew this area most of the time back in the Pre Orbx days, this and Alaska, as Aus was so crappy.. since Orbx I have rarely been back, but when this is released I will be one of your first customers..magical.  Please post shots of the Bellingham area when you do it.. Teecee.

That is incredible (again!).  ORBX is going to be rich when the US get a hold of these products, hehehe!

I looked at the first comparison and though "hmm, default FSX aint to shabby there" and then scrolled down to the FTX version... knocked my socks off... and sent them flying across the room!  ;D

Already 100% better now! And btw those default forest textures are not too bad - I'm curious what aces you have in the sleeve in this respect. Holger seems to have done a huge amount of work - clearcut areas, glaciers, brooks... Waiting for PNW just gets a bit easier as we have Australia  ;D

Thanks guys!  Bazzam has been doing some testing and took this shot of a glacier and comments "something we never see in Australia" ;)

The one thing which is striking about this region is Holger's mesh, which renders just stunning detail in the mountaineous areas. I honestly cannot wait to show you so much more as the new textures and autogen come through testing.

Outstanding work already on landclass and mesh. Man I'm getting flashbacks to many wonderful FS9 multiplayer flights in and around that area. It's even going to be better with this addon! ;D

I'm not trying to sound impatient because I know how long and hard this project must be, but do you have a ballpark idea how long it will be before your scenery is ready for the whole US and even beyond? Won't that be beyond FSX since it has already been out over 2 years?  Thanks.  Tom

Really? Ok then :)

We're doing a photoreal Seattle and perhaps Portland also. Will be 60cm/pixel and have full autogen and custom objects. Here's some testing shots:

Very early shots guys, lots of work to do here, but lovely to fly over in the sim, especially low and slow in a chopper. We tried 30cm/pixel, no real difference in quality but 4x the filesize, so we're sticking with 60cm.
