I can't say enough how much I am eagerly awaiting this product.  The PNW is fantastic but this is the one area that has always been at the top of my virtual flying desires.  I know there are hundreds of great communities in this area that would look wonderful with the added attention you have done in a few smaller airports like Concrete etc.  Two you might want to consider are Nelson and Castlgar BC.

Thanks for the great scenery so far!

Ricky76,

Yes the developers have said that Calgary, AB and Missoula, MT will be included in the area and Edmonton, AB might be but were not sure.   I was also hoping that Jackson Hole  and even the South Dakota Black Hills would make it in as well but maybe those are in a later southern rockies release?  Which would be fine too of course.

Hey Ricky76,
Do you recall was it PWA or CP that used to land 737's at castlegar?  That would be a nice challenge I think.  Or do like that one WestJet pilot almost did.....Vernon, LOL.

I'm not too sure about 73's at castelgar, I know they get daily dash8 service via Air Canada Jazz. And Westjet regularly flys into Kelowna.

Hi guys,

I know that Pacific Western used to fly 737s into Castlegar but had a bad crash in 1978: http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19780211-0

There are a couple of YouTube movies showing the tricky approach into CYCG, like this one:
Landing in Castlegar, BC

More information see http://www.czvr.ca/_Pilot_Resources/_Charts/CYCG.php

Thanks Holger! That was a great video. I had no idea CYCG had 737 service at all. That would be a tough approach for sure! I am going to try it right now as a matter of fact! Kelowna to Castelgar Airane 738.

This is great, I had a holiday in this very area, driving from Calgary to Vancouver, via Banff, Jasper and Whistler. Icefields Parkway was by far and away the most incredible scenery I have ever seen so looking forward to Orbx doing it justice!

Huge area, should make for lots of bush flying. Any idea which of the upcoming areas (if any) will include the part I've put the rectangle around. The reason I ask is I live close to the middle of that area and feel like I'm being surrounded, I want to get FTX'ed too ;D ;D.

First post for me:

Just wanted to quickly say to the design team that you have a brand new customer with card in hand ready to splurge haha. Your products (demo's and freeware) along with the amazing communication from design team to community has been amazing to see. I used the PNW demo and was instantly sold on your products, I'm just waiting for a new custom made computer (I7 chips, 8GB memory and 2 x 1GB Nvidia cards) coming in 3 weeks to give me the power to really experience both your NA and AUS products.

In the meantime, seeing this new NRM product coming out and seeing the coverage area really drove me to post on here and thank your whole team, and the community because if there is one area that has suffered big time in terms of products/upgrades its been Western Canada. I pretty much gave up, ofcourse there is some freeware and Vancouver+/Victoria+ but for the most part this amazing section of the world was forgotten. Thanks for stepping up with PNW and now NRM (when released) for really taking the time to capture what this region has to offer. I work for Air Canada and went to university at UBC, and let me tell ya this whole region has enough VFR to cover a lifetime. Not to mention sked routes with challenging approaches ex. YCG and YLW. Like a few others have posted, PMDG's 737, J41 and Dash-8, Aerosoft Airbus and CRJ
will have a field day in this whole area.

Looking forward to more screens when they are ready, and keeping in touch for sure. Again thank you from a die-hard Flightsim guy for making something for Canada, where we have a very tightknit community but pretty much neglected until now from professional developers. I have 0 computer experience, but if there is anything I can help you with in terms of Air Canada or AC Jazz's western operationss, just send me a quick message.

A big hello out the ORBX community as well,

Blake

I remember coming into Castlegar early one morning from Salmo. There is a highway comes over the mountain from the south. A PWA 737 took off below us heading straight toward the mountain and turned up the valley toward Trail. BTW the crash in 1978 was at Cranbrook and was due to snow clearing equipment on the runway. Really enjoying PNW but since I live in Calgary am waiting patiently for RMN. I also may be able to help with photos of this area if you want.

This Dutchie 'll be heading to BC spring '11..Island-hopping with a turbo beaver..YEAH!! :D  PNW has REALLY wetted my appetite here!!

The new tiles look really promising.

If you get a chance, go to Tofino on the West Side of Vancouver Island. Get with Tofino Air. They have DHC2 Beavers and a 180 on Floats. For a reassonable price they fly you into Hot Springs Cove just North of Tofino. Drop you off so you can hike in and soak in the ssprings and come back in a few hours to get you. It was awesome!

Roughly $400 for my wife and I if I remember correctly for what ammounted to almost a whole day's activity. Over an hour in the Legend that is the DHC2 over some really fantastic Scenery and the Springs were mind blowing.
